The Price of Jesus' Mission

After encountering another prediction of Jesus' imminent death (20:17-19), the reader of Matthew learns the relationship between his death and his mission (20:28). Shortly after this, Jesus shames the authorities with such deliberate provocation that they must eventually arrest him or lose face (21:12-13).
