Sergius Paulus [Sûr'jĭŭs Pao̅o̅'lus]—small or little. Proconsul or Roman deputy of Cyprus when Paul and Barnabas visited it, and who was converted to God by Elymas or Bar-jesus being struck with blindness (Acts 13:7). It is said of Sergius that he:
Was a prudent man.
Desired to hear the word of God.
When he saw what was done, believed.
Was astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
