Abishai, Abshai [Ăbĭsh'ăī]—possessor of all that is desirable. A son of David’s sister Zeruiah, and a brother of Joab and Asahel. After his numerous victories against the Philistines, he became one of David’s thirty heroes (1 Sam. 26:6-9; 2 Sam. 2:18, 24; 3:30; 10:10, 14). He is also called Abshai (1 Chron. 18:12).
