  17. “So we said to each other, ‘Let us build this altar, not for burnt offering or sacrifice,
  18. “God forbid that we should rebel against the Lord by turning from following the Lord today by building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings, and sacrifices other than the altar of the Lord God that stands before His tabernacle!”
  19. I gave you a land for which you did not work, and cities that you did not build. You live in them, and you are eating from the produce of vineyards and olive groves you did not plant.
  20. Then build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this stronghold in an orderly way. Take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah pole that you will cut down.”
  21. And I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest; what is in My heart and in My soul he will do it. And I will build him a sure house, and it will walk before My anointed forever.
  22. Go and say to My servant David: Thus says the Lord: Do you intend to build a house for Me in which I will dwell?
  23. He will build a house for My name, and I will establish his royal throne forever.
