  1. Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.

    It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them.

    Herod’s Death

    Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.
  7. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people.
  8. Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
  9. Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.
