  1. And he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments, and he wrote them on two tablets of stone.
  2. And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
  3. “These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and he added no more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

  7. And at the end of forty days and forty nights the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.
  8. New Tablets of Stone

    “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and make an ark of wood.
  9. So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.
  10. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  11. then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you shall stone that man or woman to death with stones.
  12. Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
  13. then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
  14. then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
  15. And on the day you cross over the Jordan to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall set up large stones and plaster them with plaster.
  16. And when you have crossed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster.
  17. And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. You shall wield no iron tool on them;
  18. you shall build an altar to the Lord your God of uncut stones. And you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God,
  19. And you shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”
  20. “The Lord will bring you and your king whom you set over you to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known. And there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone.
  21. “And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
  22. And you have seen their detestable things, their idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold, which were among them.
