  1. In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an impure spirit came and fell at his feet.

  11. The Greatest Commandment

    One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
  12. “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
  13. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
  14. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
  15. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
  16. They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
  17. “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’”
  18. “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as worthy of death.
  19. When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”
  20. Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died.
  21. When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.
