A Tree and Its Fruit

(Luke 6.43-45)

Watch out for false prophets! They dress up like sheep, but inside they are wolves who have come to attack you.

When he saw the crowds, he felt sorry for them. They were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Go only to the people of Israel, because they are like a flock of lost sheep.

Jesus answered, “If one of your sheep fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't you lift it out?

People are worth much more than sheep, and so it is right to do good on the Sabbath.”

Jesus said, “I was sent only to the people of Israel! They are like a flock of lost sheep.”

The Lost Sheep

(Luke 15.3-7)

Don't be cruel to any of these little ones! I promise you their angels are always with my Father in heaven.

Let me ask you this. What would you do if you had 100 sheep and one of them wandered off? Wouldn't you leave the 99 on the hillside and go look for the one that had wandered away?

The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.

He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Peter's Promise

(Mark 14.27-31; Luke 22.31-34; John 13.36-38)

Jesus said to his disciples, “During this very night, all of you will reject me, as the Scriptures say, ‘I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’

When Jesus got out of the boat, he saw the large crowd that was like sheep without a shepherd. He felt sorry for the people and started teaching them many things.

Peter's Promise

(Matthew 26.31-35; Luke 22.31-34; John 13.36-38)

The Shepherds

That night in the fields near Bethlehem some shepherds were guarding their sheep.

As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God and saying wonderful things about him. Everything they had seen and heard was just as the angel had said.

One Sheep

(Matthew 18.12-14)

Tax collectors and sinners were all crowding around to listen to Jesus.

If any of you has 100 sheep, and one of them gets lost, what will you do? Won't you leave the 99 in the field and go look for the lost sheep until you find it?

and carry it home. Then you will call in your friends and neighbors and say, “Let's celebrate! I've found my lost sheep.”

If your servant comes in from plowing or from taking care of the sheep, would you say, “Welcome! Come on in and have something to eat”?

There he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves in the temple. He also saw moneychangers sitting at their tables.

So he took some rope and made a whip. Then he chased everyone out of the temple, together with their sheep and cattle. He turned over the tables of the moneychangers and scattered their coins.

In the city near the sheep gate was a pool with five porches, and its name in Hebrew was Bethzatha.

A Story about Sheep

Jesus said: I tell you for certain only thieves and robbers climb over the fence instead of going in through the gate to the sheep pen.

But the gatekeeper opens the gate for the shepherd, and he goes in through it. The sheep know their shepherd's voice. He calls each of them by name and leads them out.

When he has led out all of his sheep, he walks in front of them, and they follow, because they know his voice.
