1 Corinthians 1:26-29
New King James Version
Glory Only in the Lord
26 For [a]you see your calling, brethren, (A)that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many [b]noble, are called. 27 But (B)God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the [c]base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.

Numbers 21:6-9
New King James Version
6 So (A)the Lord sent (B)fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.
7 (C)Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have (D)sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; (E)pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8 Then the Lord said to Moses, (F)“Make a (G)fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” 9 So (H)Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
