Psalm 119:1-88

119 Blessed are those whose way is ^[a]^(A)blameless,
Who ^(B)walk in the Law of the Lord.
²Blessed are those who ^(C)comply with His ^[b]testimonies,
And ^(D)seek Him ^(E)with all their heart.
³They also ^(F)do no injustice;
They walk in His ways.
⁴You have ^[c]^(G)ordained Your precepts,
^[d]That we are to keep them diligently.
⁵Oh that my ^(H)ways may be established
To ^(I)keep Your statutes!
⁶Then I ^(J)will not be ashamed
When I look at all Your commandments.
⁷I will ^(K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
⁸I will keep Your statutes;
Do not utterly ^(L)abandon me!

⁹How can a young man keep his way pure?
By ^(M)keeping it according to Your word.
¹⁰With ^(N)all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me ^(O)wander from Your commandments.

So that I may not sin against You.

Do not hide Your commandments from me.

For Your ordinances at all times.

And I shall comply with it to the end.

And keep it ^(AV)with all my heart.
³⁵Make me walk in the ^(AW)path of Your commandments,
For I ^(AX)delight in it.
³⁶^(AY)Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to ^(AZ)dishonest gain.
³⁷Turn my ^(BA)eyes away from looking at what is worthless,

^[n]As that which produces reverence for You.
³⁹^(BD)Take away my disgrace which I dread,
For Your judgments are good.

Revive me through Your righteousness.

⁴¹May Your ^(BF)favor also come to me, Lord,
Your salvation ^(BG)according to Your ^[o]word;
⁴²So that I will have an ^(BH)answer for one who ^(BI)taunts me,
For I trust in Your word.
⁴³And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,
For I ^[p]^(BJ)wait for Your judgments.
⁴⁴So I will ^(BK)keep Your Law continually,
Forever and ever.
⁴⁵And I will ^(BL)walk ^[q]at liberty,
For I ^(BM)seek Your precepts.
⁴⁶I will also speak of Your testimonies ^(BN)before kings
And shall not be ashamed.
⁴⁷I will ^(BO)delight in Your commandments,
Which I ^(BP)love.
⁴⁸And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,
Which I ^(BQ)love;
And I will ^(BR)meditate on Your statutes.

Zayin

⁴⁹Remember the word to Your servant,
^[r]In which You have made me hope.
⁵⁰This is my ^(BS)comfort in my misery,
That Your word has ^[s]revived me.
⁵¹The arrogant ^(BT)utterly deride me,
Yet I do not ^(BU)turn aside from Your Law.
⁵²I have ^(BV)remembered Your judgments from ^[t]of old, Lord,
And comfort myself.
⁵³Burning ^(BW)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who ^(BX)abandon Your Law.
⁵⁴Your statutes are my songs
In the house of my ^(BY)pilgrimage.
⁵⁵Lord, I ^(BZ)remember Your name ^(CA)in the night,
And keep Your Law.
⁵⁶This has become mine,
^[u]That I ^(CB)comply with Your precepts.

⁵⁷The Lord is my ^(CC)portion;
I have ^[v]promised to ^(CD)keep Your words.
⁵⁸I ^(CE)sought Your favor ^(CF)with all my heart;
^(CG)Be gracious to me ^(CH)according to Your ^[w]word.
⁵⁹I ^(CI)considered my ways
And turned my feet to Your testimonies.
⁶⁰I hurried and did not delay
To keep Your commandments.
⁶¹The ^(CJ)snares of the wicked have surrounded me,
But I have ^(CK)not forgotten Your Law.
⁶²At ^(CL)midnight I will rise to give thanks to You
Because of Your ^(CM)righteous judgments.
⁶³I am a ^(CN)companion to all those who ^[x]fear You,
And to those who keep Your precepts.
⁶⁴^(CO)The earth is full of Your goodness, Lord;
^(CP)Teach me Your statutes.

1 Corinthians 7:20-40

²⁰^(A)Each person is to remain in that ^[a]state in which he was called.

²¹Were you called as a slave? Do not let it concern you. But if you are also able to become free, take advantage of that. ²²For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is ^(B)the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is ^(C)Christ’s slave. ²³^(D)You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people. ²⁴Brothers and sisters, ^(E)each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called.

²⁵Now concerning virgins, I have ^(F)no command of the Lord, but I am offering direction as one who ^[b]^(G)by the mercy of the Lord is trustworthy. ²⁶I think, then, that this is good in view of the ^[c]present ^(H)distress, that ^(I)it is good for a man ^[d]to remain as he is. ²⁷Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Are you released from a wife? Do not seek a wife. ²⁸But if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such people as yourselves will have ^[e]trouble in this life, and I am trying to spare you. ²⁹But this I say, brothers, ^(J)the time has been shortened, so that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none; ³⁰and those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; ³¹and those who use the world, as though they did not ^(K)make full use of it; for ^(L)the present form of this world is passing away.

³²But I want you to be free from concern. One who is ^(M)unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; ³³but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, ³⁴and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. ³⁵I say this for your own benefit, not to put a restraint on you, but ^[f]to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.

³⁶But if anyone thinks that he is acting dishonorably toward his virgin, if she is ^[g]past her youth and it ought to be so, let him do what he wishes, he is not sinning; let ^[h]them marry. ³⁷But the one who stands firm in his heart, ^[i]if he is not under constraint, but has authority ^[j]over his own will, and has decided this in his own heart, to keep his own virgin, he will do well. ³⁸So then, both the one who gives his own virgin in marriage does well, and the one who does not give her in marriage will do better.

³⁹^(N)A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband ^[k]dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only ^(O)in the Lord. ⁴⁰But ^(P)in my opinion she is ^[l]happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
