Psalm 100-102

All People Exhorted to Praise God.

A Psalm for ^[a]Thanksgiving.

100 ^(A)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
²^(B)Serve the Lord with jubilation;
^(C)Come before Him with rejoicing.
³Know that ^(D)the Lord ^[b]Himself is God;
It is He who has ^(E)made us, and ^[c]not we ourselves;
We are ^(F)His people and the sheep of His pasture.

⁴Enter His gates ^(G)with ^[d]thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.
Give thanks to Him, ^(H)bless His name.
⁵For ^(I)the Lord is good;
^(J)His mercy is everlasting
And His ^(K)faithfulness is to all generations.

The Psalmist’s Profession of Uprightness.

A Psalm of David.

101 I will ^(L)sing of mercy and ^[e]justice;
To You, Lord, I will sing praises.
²I will ^(M)carefully attend to the ^[f]blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the ^[g]^(N)integrity of my heart.
³I will set no ^(O)worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the ^[h]work of those who ^(P)fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
⁴A ^(Q)perverse heart shall leave me;
I will know no evil.
⁵Whoever secretly ^(R)slanders his neighbor, him I will ^[i]destroy;
I will not endure one who has a ^(S)haughty look and an arrogant heart.

⁶My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
One who walks in a ^[j]^(T)blameless way is one who will serve me.
⁷One who ^(U)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
One who speaks lies ^(V)shall not ^[k]maintain his position before me.
⁸^(W)Every morning I will ^[l]^(X)destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to ^(Y)eliminate from the ^(Z)city of the Lord all those who do injustice.

Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and ^[m]pours out his complaint before the Lord.

102 ^(AA)Hear my prayer, Lord!
And let my cry for help ^(AB)come to You.
²^(AC)Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
^(AD)Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call ^(AE)answer me quickly.
³For my days ^(AF)have ended in smoke,
And my ^(AG)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
⁴My heart ^(AH)has been struck like ^[n]grass and has ^(AI)withered,
Indeed, I ^(AJ)forget to eat my bread.
⁵Because of the ^[o]loudness of my groaning
My ^(AK)bones ^[p]cling to my flesh.
⁶I resemble a ^(AL)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
⁷I ^(AM)lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

⁸My enemies ^(AN)have taunted me all day long;
Those who ^[q]^(AO)deride me ^[r]have used my name as a ^(AP)curse.
⁹For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And ^(AQ)mixed my drink with weeping
¹⁰^(AR)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have ^(AS)lifted me up and thrown me away.
¹¹My days are like a ^[s]^(AT)lengthened shadow,
And ^[t]I ^(AU)wither away like ^[u]grass.

¹²But You, Lord, ^[v]^(AV)remain forever,
And Your ^[w]^(AW)name remains to all generations.
¹³You will ^(AX)arise and have ^(AY)compassion on Zion;
For ^(AZ)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the ^(BA)appointed time has come.
¹⁴Surely Your servants ^[x]take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
¹⁵^[y]So the ^[z]^(BB)nations will fear the name of the Lord,
And ^(BC)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
¹⁶For the Lord has ^(BD)built up Zion;
He has ^(BE)appeared in His glory.
¹⁷He has ^(BF)turned His attention to the prayer of the ^[aa]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

¹⁸^[ab]This will be ^(BG)written for the ^(BH)generation to come,
^[ac]That ^(BI)a people yet to be created ^[ad]may praise ^[ae]the Lord:
¹⁹For He ^(BJ)looked down from His holy height;
^(BK)From heaven the Lord looked ^[af]upon the earth,
²⁰To hear the ^(BL)groaning of the prisoner,
To ^(BM)set free ^[ag]those who were doomed to death,
²¹So that people may ^(BN)tell of the name of the Lord in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
²²When ^(BO)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

²³He has broken my strength in the way;
He has ^(BP)shortened my days.
²⁴I say, “My God, ^(BQ)do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your ^(BR)years are ^[ah]throughout all generations.
²⁵In time of old You ^(BS)founded the earth,
And the ^(BT)heavens are the work of Your hands.
²⁶^[ai]Even they will ^(BU)perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.
²⁷But You are ^[aj]^(BV)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
²⁸The ^(BW)children of Your servants will continue,
And their ^[ak]^(BX)descendants will be established before You.”

1 Corinthians 1

Appeal to Unity

1 Paul, ^(A)called as an apostle of Jesus Christ ^[a]by ^(B)the will of God, and our ^(C)brother ^(D)Sosthenes,

²To ^(E)the church of God which is in ^(F)Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, ^[b]saints ^(G)by calling, with all who in every place ^(H)call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

³^(I)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴^(J)I thank ^[c]my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, ⁵that in everything you were ^(K)enriched in Him, in all ^(L)speech and ^(M)all knowledge, ⁶just as ^(N)the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed ^[d]in you, ⁷so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you eagerly ^(O)await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁸^(P)who will also ^[e]confirm you to the end, blameless on ^(Q)the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹^(R)God is faithful, through whom you were ^(S)called into ^(T)fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁰Now ^(U)I urge you, ^(V)brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all ^[f]agree and that there be no ^[g]^(W)divisions among you, but that you be ^[h]made complete in ^(X)the same mind and in the same judgment. ¹¹For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers and sisters, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you. ¹²Now I mean this, that ^(Y)each one of you is saying, “I am ^[i]with Paul,” ^[j]or “I am ^[k]with ^(Z)Apollos,” ^[l]or “I am ^[m]with ^[n]^(AA)Cephas,” ^[o]or “I am ^[p]with Christ.” ¹³^[q]Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you ^(AB)baptized ^[r]in the name of Paul? ¹⁴I am thankful that I ^(AC)baptized none of you except ^(AD)Crispus and ^(AE)Gaius, ¹⁵so that no one would say you were baptized ^[s]in my name! ¹⁶But I did baptize the ^(AF)household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else. ¹⁷^(AG)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, ^(AH)not with ^[t]cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.

The Wisdom of God

¹⁸For the word of the cross is ^(AI)foolishness to ^(AJ)those who ^[u]are perishing, but to us who ^[v]are being saved it is ^(AK)the power of God. ¹⁹For it is written:

“^(AL)I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.”

²⁰^(AM)Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of ^(AN)this age? Has God not ^(AO)made foolish the wisdom of ^(AP)the world? ²¹For since in the wisdom of God ^(AQ)the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, ^(AR)God ^[w]was pleased through the ^(AS)foolishness of the ^[x]message preached to ^(AT)save those who believe. ²²For indeed ^(AU)Jews ask for ^[y]signs and Greeks search for wisdom; ²³but we preach ^[z]^(AV)Christ crucified, ^(AW)to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles ^(AX)foolishness, ²⁴but to those who are ^(AY)the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ ^(AZ)the power of God and ^(BA)the wisdom of God. ²⁵For the ^(BB)foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and ^(BC)the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.

²⁶For ^[aa]consider your ^(BD)calling, brothers and sisters, that there were ^(BE)not many wise according to ^[ab]the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; ²⁷but ^(BF)God has chosen the foolish things of ^(BG)the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of ^(BH)the world to shame the things which are strong, ²⁸and the ^[ac]insignificant things of ^(BI)the world and the despised God has chosen, ^(BJ)the things that are not, so that He may ^(BK)nullify the things that are, ²⁹so that ^(BL)no ^[ad]human may boast before God. ³⁰But it is ^[ae]due to Him that you are in ^(BM)Christ Jesus, who became to us ^(BN)wisdom from God, ^[af]and ^(BO)righteousness and ^(BP)sanctification, and ^(BQ)redemption, ³¹so that, just as it is written: “^(BR)Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
