⁹ However, you are not ^(A)in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God ^(B)dwells in you. But ^(C)if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. ^10 (D)If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is ^[a]alive because of righteousness. ¹¹ But if the Spirit of Him who ^(E)raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, ^(F)He who raised ^(G)Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies ^[b]through His Spirit who dwells in you.

⁴ John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, ^[a](A)preaching a baptism of repentance for the ^(B)forgiveness of sins.

³ And he came into all ^(A)the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance ^[a]for the forgiveness of sins;

⁴⁷ and that ^(A)repentance ^[a]for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed ^[b]in His name to ^(B)all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

²⁴ after ^(A)John had proclaimed, before ^[a]His coming, a ^(B)baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

Paul in Ephesus

19 Now it happened that while ^(A)Apollos was in ^(B)Corinth, Paul passed through the ^(C)upper country and came to ^(D)Ephesus, and found some disciples. ² He said to them, “^(E)Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “On the contrary, ^(F)we have not even heard if there is a Holy Spirit.” ³ And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “^(G)Into John’s baptism.” ⁴ Paul said, “^(H)John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people ^(I)to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” ⁵ When they heard this, they were ^(J)baptized ^[a]in the name of the Lord Jesus.
