17 And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. 18 Wisdom is needed here. Let the one with understanding solve the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[a] His number is 666.[b]

New International Version
17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark,(A) which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.(B)
18 This calls for wisdom.(C) Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[a](D) That number is 666.
