⁵ God has ^(H)ascended ^[a]with a shout,
The Lord, ^[b]with the ^(I)sound of a trumpet.
^6 (J)Sing praises to God, sing praises;
Sing praises to ^(K)our King, sing praises.
⁷ For God is the ^(L)King of all the earth;
Sing praises ^(M)with a psalm of wisdom.
⁸ God ^(N)reigns over the nations,
God ^[c]sits on ^(O)His holy throne.
⁹ The ^[d](P)princes of the people have assembled as the ^(Q)people of the God of Abraham,
For the ^(R)shields of the earth belong to God;
He is ^(S)highly exalted.

⁴ For, behold, the ^(H)kings arrived,
They passed by together.
⁵ They saw it, then they were amazed;
They were ^(I)terrified, they fled in a hurry.
^6 [a]Panic seized them there,
Anguish, as that of ^(J)a woman in childbirth.
⁷ With the ^(K)east wind
You ^(L)smash the ^(M)ships of Tarshish.
⁸ Just as we have heard, so have we seen
In the city of the Lord of armies, in the city of our God;
God will ^(N)establish her forever. Selah

⁹ We have thought over ^(O)Your goodness, God,
In the midst of Your temple.
¹⁰ As is Your ^(P)name, God,
So is Your ^(Q)praise to the ends of the earth;
Your ^(R)right hand is full of righteousness.
¹¹ Mount ^(S)Zion shall be glad,
The ^(T)daughters of Judah shall rejoice
Because of Your judgments.
¹² Walk around Zion and encircle her;
Count her ^(U)towers;
¹³ Consider her ^(V)ramparts;
Go through her palaces,
So that you may ^(W)tell of her to the next generation.
¹⁴ For ^[b]such is God,
Our God forever and ever;
He will ^(X)lead us ^[c]until death.

⁵ Why should I ^(I)fear in days of adversity,
When the injustice of those who betray me surrounds me,
⁶ Those who ^(J)trust in their wealth
And boast in the abundance of their riches?
⁷ No one can by any means ^(K)redeem another
Or give God a ^(L)ransom for him—
⁸ For ^(M)the redemption of ^[b]his soul is priceless,
And he should cease imagining forever—
⁹ That he might ^(N)live on eternally,
That he might not ^[c](O)undergo decay.

¹⁰ For he sees that even ^(P)wise people die;
The ^(Q)foolish and the stupid alike perish
And ^(R)leave their wealth to others.
¹¹ Their ^[d](S)inner thought is that their houses ^(T)are forever
And their dwelling places to all generations;
They have ^(U)named their lands after their own names.
¹² But ^(V)man in his splendor will not endure;
He is like the animals that ^[e]perish.

¹³ This is the ^(W)way of those who are foolish,
And of those after them who ^(X)approve their words. Selah
¹⁴ Like sheep they sink down ^(Y)to ^[f]Sheol;
Death will be their shepherd;
And the ^(Z)upright will rule over them in the morning,
And their form shall be for ^[g]Sheol ^(AA)to consume
^[h]So that they have no lofty home.
¹⁵ But God will ^(AB)redeem my soul from the ^[i]power of ^[j]Sheol,
For ^(AC)He will receive me. Selah

¹⁶ Do not be afraid ^(AD)when a person becomes rich,
When the splendor of his house is increased;
¹⁷ For when he dies, he will ^(AE)take nothing with him;
His ^[k]wealth will not descend after him.
¹⁸ Though while he lives he ^(AF)congratulates ^[l]himself—
And though people praise you when you do well for yourself—
^19 [m]He will ^(AG)go to the generation of his fathers;
They will never see ^(AH)the light.
^20 (AI)Mankind in its splendor, yet without understanding,
Is ^(AJ)like the animals that ^[n]perish.

⁵ Blessed is the person whose ^(H)strength is in You,
In ^[b]whose heart are the ^(I)roads to Zion!
⁶ Passing through the Valley of ^[c]Baca they make it a ^[d]spring;
The ^(J)early rain also covers it with blessings.
⁷ They ^(K)go from strength to strength,
^[e]Every one of them ^(L)appears before God in Zion.

^8 (M)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, ^(N)God of Jacob! Selah
⁹ See our ^(O)shield, God,
And look at the face of ^(P)Your anointed.
¹⁰ For ^(Q)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
¹¹ For the Lord God is ^(R)a sun and ^(S)shield;
The Lord gives grace and ^(T)glory;
^(U)He withholds no good thing ^[f]from those who walk with integrity.
¹² Lord of armies,
^(V)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

^4 (G)Restore us, God of our salvation,
And ^(H)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
⁵ Will ^(I)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to ^[a]all generations?
⁶ Will You not ^[b](J)revive us again,
So that Your people may ^(K)rejoice in You?
⁷ Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And ^(L)grant us Your salvation.

^8 [c]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will ^(M)speak peace to His people, to His godly ones;
And may they not ^(N)turn back to ^[d]foolishness.
⁹ Certainly ^(O)His salvation is near to those who ^[e]fear Him,
That ^(P)glory may dwell in our land.
^10 (Q)Graciousness and ^[f]truth have met together;
^(R)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
^11 [g]Truth ^(S)sprouts from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
¹² Indeed, ^(T)the Lord will give what is good,
And our ^(U)land will yield its produce.
^13 (V)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.
