Psalm 19-22

In the heavens^[c] he has set a tent for the sun,^(C)
5 which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy,
    and like a strong man runs its course with joy.^(D)
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens
    and its circuit to the end of them,
    and nothing is hid from its heat.^(E)

⁷ The law of the Lord is perfect,
    reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
    making wise the simple;^(F)
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
    enlightening the eyes;^(G)
9 the fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever;
the ordinances of the Lord are true
    and righteous altogether.^(H)
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
    even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
    and drippings of the honeycomb.^(I)

¹¹ Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.^(J)
12 But who can detect one’s own errors?
    Clear me from hidden faults.^(K)
13 Keep back your servant also from the insolent;^[d]
    do not let them have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless
    and innocent of great transgression.^(L)

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be acceptable to you,
    O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.^(M)

⁴ May he grant you your heart’s desire
    and fulfill all your plans.^(Q)
5 May we shout for joy over your victory
    and in the name of our God set up our banners.
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.^(R)

⁶ Now I know that the Lord will help his anointed;
    he will answer him from his holy heaven
    with mighty victories by his right hand.^(S)
7 Some take pride in chariots and some in horses,
    but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.^(T)
8 They will collapse and fall,
    but we shall rise and stand upright.^(U)

⁹ Give victory to the king, O Lord;
    answer us when we call.^[e]

⁸ Your hand will find out all your enemies;
    your right hand will find out those who hate you.^(AB)
9 You will make them like a fiery furnace
    when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
    and fire will consume them.^(AC)
10 You will destroy their offspring from the earth
    and their children from among humankind.^(AD)
11 If they plan evil against you,
    if they devise mischief, they will not succeed.^(AE)
12 For you will put them to flight;
    you will aim at their faces with your bows.^(AF)

¹³ Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
    We will sing and praise your power.^(AG)

³ Yet you are holy,
    enthroned on the praises of Israel.^(AJ)
4 In you our ancestors trusted;
    they trusted, and you delivered them.
⁵ To you they cried and were saved;
    in you they trusted and were not put to shame.^(AK)

⁶ But I am a worm and not human,
    scorned by others and despised by the people.^(AL)
7 All who see me mock me;
    they sneer at me; they shake their heads;^(AM)
8 “Commit your cause to the Lord; let him deliver—
    let him rescue the one in whom he delights!”^(AN)

⁹ Yet it was you who took me from the womb;
    you kept me safe on my mother’s breast.^(AO)
10 On you I was cast from my birth,
    and since my mother bore me you have been my God.^(AP)
11 Do not be far from me,
    for trouble is near,
    and there is no one to help.

¹² Many bulls encircle me;
    strong bulls of Bashan surround me;^(AQ)
13 they open wide their mouths at me,
    like a ravening and roaring lion.^(AR)

¹⁴ I am poured out like water,
    and all my bones are out of joint;
my heart is like wax;
    it is melted within my breast;^(AS)
15 my mouth^[f] is dried up like a potsherd,
    and my tongue sticks to my jaws;
    you lay me in the dust of death.^(AT)

¹⁶ For dogs are all around me;
    a company of evildoers encircles me;
they bound my hands and feet.^[g](AU)
17 I can count all my bones.
They stare and gloat over me;
¹⁸ they divide my clothes among themselves,
    and for my clothing they cast lots.^(AV)

¹⁹ But you, O Lord, do not be far away!
    O my help, come quickly to my aid!
²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword,
    my life^[h] from the power of the dog!^(AW)
21     Save me from the mouth of the lion!

From the horns of the wild oxen you have rescued^[i] me.^(AX)
22 I will tell of your name to my brothers and sisters;^[j]
    in the midst of the congregation I will praise you:^(AY)
23 You who fear the Lord, praise him!
    All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him;
    stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!^(AZ)
24 For he did not despise or abhor
    the affliction of the afflicted;
he did not hide his face from me^[k]
    but heard when I^[l] cried to him.^(BA)

²⁵ From you comes my praise in the great congregation;
    my vows I will pay before those who fear him.^(BB)
26 The poor^[m] shall eat and be satisfied;
    those who seek him shall praise the Lord.
    May your hearts live forever!^(BC)

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember
    and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
    shall worship before him.^[n](BD)
28 For dominion belongs to the Lord,
    and he rules over the nations.^(BE)

²⁹ To him,^[o] indeed, shall all who sleep in^[p] the earth bow down;
    before him shall bow all who go down to the dust,
    and I shall live for him.^[q](BF)
30 Posterity will serve him;
    future generations will be told about the Lord^(BG)
31 and^[r] proclaim his deliverance to a people yet unborn,
    saying that he has done it.^(BH)
