89  He Makiri na Etana Eterahi.

Kua whakarite kawenata ahau ki taku i whiriwhiri ai: kua oati ki taku pononga ki a Rawiri;

Ko wai oti i nga rangi hei rite mo Ihowa? Ko wai i roto i nga tama a te hunga nunui e rite ana ki a Ihowa?

He Atua whakamataku rawa i roto i te whakaminenga o te hunga tapu, e wehingia ana i runga ake i a ratou katoa i tetahi taha, i tetahi taha ona?

E Ihowa, e te Atua o nga mano, ko wai te mea kaha hei rite mou, e IHA? Hei rite ranei mo tou pono i tetahi taha ou, i tetahi taha?

10 Mongamonga noa i a koe a Rahapa ano he tangata i patua: marara ana i a koe, i tou ringa kaha ou hoariri.

13 He takakau marohirohi tou: he pakari tou ringa, rewa tonu tou matau ki runga.

21 Ka u atu toku ringa hei awhina mona: ma toku takakau ano ia e whakakaha.

24 Otira ka mau ki a ia toku pono me taku mahi tohu: a ma toku ingoa ka ara ai tona haona.

30 Ki te whakarerea e ana tamariki taku ture, a kahore e haere i aku whakaritenga;

31 Ki te takahi ratou i aku tikanga; a kahore e pupuri i aku whakahau;

32 Katahi ka whaia ta ratou mahi tutu e taku rakau, o ratou kino e te whiu.

33 Otira e kore e tangohia rawatia e ahau taku mahi tohu i a ia, e tuku ranei i toku pono kia he.

42 Kua whakarewaina e koe te ringa matau o ona hoa whawhai: kua meinga e koe kia hari ona hoa whawhai katoa.

(Hera.

46 Kia pehea te roa, e Ihowa, e whakangaro ai koe i a koe, ake tonu atu? Kia pehea te roa e toro ana tou riri ano he ahi?

47 Kia mahara ki te poto rawa o toku taima: he aha i hanga ai e koe nga tangata katoa hei kore noa iho?

48 Ko wai tena tangata e ora nei, a e kore e kite i te mate? E mawhiti koia i a ia tona wairua i te kaha o te reinga? (Hera.

52 Kia whakapaingia a Ihowa ake ake. Amine, ae Amine.

Psalm 89[a]

A maskil[b] of Ethan the Ezrahite.

I will sing(A) of the Lord’s great love forever;
    with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known(B)
    through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
    that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.(C)
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
    I have sworn to David my servant,
‘I will establish your line forever
    and make your throne firm through all generations.’”[c](D)

The heavens(E) praise your wonders, Lord,
    your faithfulness too, in the assembly(F) of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
    Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?(G)
In the council(H) of the holy ones(I) God is greatly feared;
    he is more awesome than all who surround him.(J)
Who is like you,(K) Lord God Almighty?(L)
    You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

You rule over the surging sea;
    when its waves mount up, you still them.(M)
10 You crushed Rahab(N) like one of the slain;
    with your strong arm you scattered(O) your enemies.
11 The heavens are yours,(P) and yours also the earth;(Q)
    you founded the world and all that is in it.(R)
12 You created the north and the south;
    Tabor(S) and Hermon(T) sing for joy(U) at your name.
13 Your arm is endowed with power;
    your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.(V)

14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;(W)
    love and faithfulness go before you.(X)
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
    who walk(Y) in the light(Z) of your presence, Lord.
16 They rejoice in your name(AA) all day long;
    they celebrate your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength,(AB)
    and by your favor you exalt our horn.[d](AC)
18 Indeed, our shield[e](AD) belongs to the Lord,
    our king(AE) to the Holy One of Israel.

19 Once you spoke in a vision,
    to your faithful people you said:
“I have bestowed strength on a warrior;
    I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David(AF) my servant;(AG)
    with my sacred oil(AH) I have anointed(AI) him.
21 My hand will sustain him;
    surely my arm will strengthen him.(AJ)
22 The enemy will not get the better of him;(AK)
    the wicked will not oppress(AL) him.
23 I will crush his foes before him(AM)
    and strike down his adversaries.(AN)
24 My faithful love will be with him,(AO)
    and through my name his horn[f] will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand over the sea,
    his right hand over the rivers.(AP)
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,(AQ)
    my God, the Rock(AR) my Savior.’(AS)
27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,(AT)
    the most exalted(AU) of the kings(AV) of the earth.
28 I will maintain my love to him forever,
    and my covenant with him will never fail.(AW)
29 I will establish his line forever,
    his throne as long as the heavens endure.(AX)

30 “If his sons forsake my law
    and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees
    and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod,
    their iniquity with flogging;(AY)
33 but I will not take my love from him,(AZ)
    nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
    or alter what my lips have uttered.(BA)
35 Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness—
    and I will not lie to David—
36 that his line will continue forever
    and his throne endure before me like the sun;(BB)
37 it will be established forever like the moon,
    the faithful witness in the sky.”(BC)

38 But you have rejected,(BD) you have spurned,
    you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant
    and have defiled his crown in the dust.(BE)
40 You have broken through all his walls(BF)
    and reduced his strongholds(BG) to ruins.
41 All who pass by have plundered(BH) him;
    he has become the scorn of his neighbors.(BI)
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
    you have made all his enemies rejoice.(BJ)
43 Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword
    and have not supported him in battle.(BK)
44 You have put an end to his splendor
    and cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short(BL) the days of his youth;
    you have covered him with a mantle of shame.(BM)

46 How long, Lord? Will you hide yourself forever?
    How long will your wrath burn like fire?(BN)
47 Remember how fleeting is my life.(BO)
    For what futility you have created all humanity!
48 Who can live and not see death,
    or who can escape the power of the grave?(BP)
49 Lord, where is your former great love,
    which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, Lord, how your servant has[g] been mocked,(BQ)
    how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
51 the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked,
    with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.(BR)

52 Praise be to the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.(BS)

  1. Psalm 96:9 Or Lord with the splendor of

100  He himene whakamoemiti.

He pai hoki a Ihowa, pumau tonu tana mahi tohu: a kei tena whakatupuranga, kei tena whakatupuranga, tona pono.

101  He himene na Rawiri.

  1. Psalm 100:3 Or and not we ourselves

Rapua a Ihowa me tona kaha: rapua tonutia tona mata, ake ake.

Maharatia ana mahi whakamiharo i mahia e ia; ana merekara me nga whakaritenga a tona mangai,

E nga uri o Aperahama, o tana pononga, e nga tama a Hakopa, e ana i whiriwhiri ai.

Ki tana i whakarite ai ki a Aperahama, ki tana oati hoki ki a Ihaka;

10 A whakapumautia iho e ia hei tikanga ki a Hakopa, hei kawenata mau tonu ki a Iharaira.

11 I a ia ra i mea, Ka hoatu e ahau ki a koe te whenua o Kanaana hei wahi pumau mo koutou.

12 I te mea he hunga torutoru ratou: ae ra, he iti rawa, he manene ano ki reira.

13 I a ratou e haereere ana i tenei iwi ki tera atu iwi, i tetahi rangatiratanga ki tetahi iwi ke;

17 I tonoa e ia he tangata i mua i a ratou; i hokona a Hohepa hei pononga:

18 I whakamamaetia ona waewae ki te mekameka: takoto ana ia i te rino;

19 A puta noa tana kupu: whakamatautauria ana ia e te kupu a Ihowa.

20 I tono te kingi, a wetekina ana ia; ara te kingi o nga iwi, a tukua ana ia.

21 A meinga ana ia e ia hei ariki mo tona whare, hei rangatira mo ona taonga katoa;

26 I tonoa e ia a Mohi, tana pononga, raua ko Arona, ko tana i whiriwhiri ai.

27 Whakaputaina ana e raua ana tohu i waenganui i a ratou, he merekara i te whenua o Hama.

28 I tukua e ia te pouri, a kua pouri: kihai ano ratou i whakakeke ki ana kupu.

29 I whakaputaia ketia e ia o ratou wai hei toto; a mate ake i a ia a ratou ngohi.

30 I whakangahue ake to ratou whenua i te poroka, i roto i nga whare moenga o o ratou kingi.

31 I whai kupu ia, a puta ana mai nga pokai namu: me te kutu i o ratou kainga.

32 I tukua iho e ia ki a ratou te whatu hei ua, me te ahi mura ki to ratou whenua.

33 I pakia ano e ia a ratou waina me a ratou piki; a whatiwhatiia ana e ia nga rakau o o ratou kainga.

34 I korero ia, a puta ana mai te mawhitiwhiti me te moka, te taea te tatau.

35 A kainga katoatia ana nga otaota o to ratou whenua; pau ake nga hua o to ratou oneone.

36 I whakamatea katoatia ano hoki e ia nga matamua o to ratou whenua, te muanga o to ratou kaha.

37 A whakaputaina mai ana ratou e ia, me te hiriwa, me te koura, kahore hoki he mea tuoi i roto i ana iwi.

42 I mahara hoki ia ki tana kuputapu, ki a Aperahama ano, ki tana pononga.

43 A whakaputaina mai ana e ia tana iwi i runga i te hari, ana i whiriwhiri ai i runga i te koa.

44 A homai ana e ia ki a ratou nga whenua o nga tauiwi: a riro ana i a ratou nga mauiuitanga o te iwi;

45 Kia puritia ai e ratou ana tikanga, kia mau ai ki ana ture. Whakamoemititia a Ihowa.

    he made them too numerous(AK) for their foes,
25 whose hearts he turned(AL) to hate his people,
    to conspire(AM) against his servants.
26 He sent Moses(AN) his servant,
    and Aaron,(AO) whom he had chosen.(AP)
27 They performed(AQ) his signs(AR) among them,
    his wonders(AS) in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness(AT) and made the land dark—
    for had they not rebelled against(AU) his words?
29 He turned their waters into blood,(AV)
    causing their fish to die.(AW)
30 Their land teemed with frogs,(AX)
    which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.
31 He spoke,(AY) and there came swarms of flies,(AZ)
    and gnats(BA) throughout their country.
32 He turned their rain into hail,(BB)
    with lightning throughout their land;
33 he struck down their vines(BC) and fig trees(BD)
    and shattered the trees of their country.
34 He spoke,(BE) and the locusts came,(BF)
    grasshoppers(BG) without number;(BH)
35 they ate up every green thing in their land,
    ate up the produce of their soil.
36 Then he struck down all the firstborn(BI) in their land,
    the firstfruits of all their manhood.
37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,(BJ)
    and from among their tribes no one faltered.
38 Egypt was glad when they left,
    because dread of Israel(BK) had fallen on them.

39 He spread out a cloud(BL) as a covering,
    and a fire to give light at night.(BM)
40 They asked,(BN) and he brought them quail;(BO)
    he fed them well with the bread of heaven.(BP)
41 He opened the rock,(BQ) and water gushed out;
    it flowed like a river in the desert.

42 For he remembered his holy promise(BR)
    given to his servant Abraham.
43 He brought out his people with rejoicing,(BS)
    his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
44 he gave them the lands of the nations,(BT)
    and they fell heir to what others had toiled(BU) for—
45 that they might keep his precepts
    and observe his laws.(BV)

Praise the Lord.[a](BW)

Footnotes

  1. Psalm 105:45 Hebrew Hallelu Yah

132  He waiata; he pikitanga. E Ihowa, maharatia a Rawiri, me ona mamaetanga ngakau katoa;

Tana oati ki a Ihowa, tana kupu taurangi ki te Mea Nui o Hakopa;

E kore rawa ahau e tae ki toku whare e noho ai ahau, e eke ranei ki runga ki toku moenga;

E kore ahau e tuku i oku kanohi kia moe, i oku kamo kia nenewha;

Kia kitea ra ano e ahau he wahi mo Ihowa, he nohoanga mo te Mea Nui o Hakopa.

13 Kua whiriwhiria hoki e Ihowa a Hiona; kua hiahiatia e ia hei nohoanga mona.

14 Ko toku okiokinga tenei ake ake; ko konei ahau noho ai, kua hiahiatia hoki e ahau.

Psalm 132(A)

A song of ascents.

Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.(B)

He swore an oath to the Lord,
    he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:(C)
“I will not enter my house(D)
    or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place(E) for the Lord,
    a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard it in Ephrathah,(F)
    we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a](G)
“Let us go to his dwelling place,(H)
    let us worship at his footstool,(I) saying,
‘Arise, Lord,(J) and come to your resting place,
    you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;(K)
    may your faithful people(L) sing for joy.’”

10 For the sake of your servant David,
    do not reject your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,(M)
    a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants(N)
    I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant(O)
    and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
    on your throne(P) for ever and ever.”

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,(Q)
    he has desired it for his dwelling,(R) saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;(S)
    here I will sit enthroned,(T) for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
    her poor I will satisfy with food.(U)
16 I will clothe her priests(V) with salvation,
    and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.(W)

17 “Here I will make a horn[b] grow(X) for David
    and set up a lamp(Y) for my anointed one.(Z)
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,(AA)
    but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”(AB)
