46 Rreth orës nëntë, Jezusi briti me zë të lartë duke thënë: “Eli, Eli, lama sabaktani?.” Domethënë: “Perëndia im, Perëndia im, përse më ke braktisur?.”
47 Dhe disa nga të pranishmit, kur e dëgjuan, thanë: “Ky po thërret Elian.”
48 Dhe në atë çast një nga ata vrapoi, mori një sfungjer, e zhyti në uthull dhe, mbasi e vuri në majë të një kallami, ia dha për ta pirë.
49 Por të tjerët thonin: “Lëre, të shohim në se do të vijë Elia për ta shpëtuar.”
50 Dhe Jezusi bërtiti edhe një herë me zë të lartë dhe dha frymë.

Matthew 27:46-50
New International Version
46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[b](A)
47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”
48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,(B) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.(C)
