Who is the Greatest?

³³Then^(A) they came to Capernaum.^(B) When He was in the house,^(C) He asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”^(D) ³⁴But they were silent,^(E) because on the way they had been arguing with one another about who was the greatest.^(F) ³⁵Sitting down, He called the Twelve^(G) and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”^(H) ³⁶Then He took a child,^(I) had him stand among them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, ³⁷“Whoever welcomes^[a] one little child such as this in My name^(J) welcomes Me. And whoever welcomes Me does not welcome Me, but Him who sent^(K) Me.”^(L)

Blessing the Children

¹³Some^(A) people were bringing little children^(B) to Him so He might touch them, but His disciples rebuked^(C) them. ¹⁴When Jesus saw it, He was indignant^(D) and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me.^(E) Don’t stop^(F) them, for the kingdom of God^(G) belongs to such as these. ¹⁵I assure you:^(H) Whoever does not welcome^[a]^(I) the kingdom of God like a little child^(J) will never enter it.” ¹⁶After taking them in His arms, He laid His hands on^(K) them and blessed^(L) them.
