25 And he said unto them, [a]Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? 26 How he entered into the house of God [b]when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him?

25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest,(A) he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat.(B) And he also gave some to his companions.”(C)
