⁸ He alone stretches out the heavens^(A)
    and treads on the waves of the sea.^(B)

¹¹ The pillars of the heavens quake,^(A)
    aghast at his rebuke.
¹² By his power he churned up the sea;^(B)
    by his wisdom^(C) he cut Rahab^(D) to pieces.
¹³ By his breath the skies^(E) became fair;
    his hand pierced the gliding serpent.^(F)
14 And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
    how faint the whisper^(G) we hear of him!^(H)
    Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”^(I)

⁸ Who is like you,^(A) Lord God Almighty?^(B)
    You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

⁹ You rule over the surging sea;
    when its waves mount up, you still them.^(C)
10 You crushed Rahab^(D) like one of the slain;
    with your strong arm you scattered^(E) your enemies.

⁴ Mightier than the thunder^(A) of the great waters,
    mightier than the breakers^(B) of the sea—
    the Lord on high is mighty.^(C)

²⁸ Then they cried^(A) out to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he brought them out of their distress.^(B)
29 He stilled the storm^(C) to a whisper;
    the waves^(D) of the sea^[a] were hushed.^(E)
30 They were glad when it grew calm,
    and he guided them^(F) to their desired haven.
³¹ Let them give thanks^(G) to the Lord for his unfailing love^(H)
    and his wonderful deeds^(I) for mankind.
