²³ But this is ^[a]what I commanded them, saying, ‘^(A)Obey My voice, and ^(B)I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk ^[b]entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may ^(C)go well for you.’ ²⁴ Yet they ^(D)did not obey or incline their ear, but walked by their own advice and in the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and they ^[c](E)went backward and not forward.

⁷ For I solemnly ^(A)warned your fathers on the ^(B)day I brought them up from the land of Egypt, even to this day, ^(C)warning them persistently, saying, “^(D)Listen to My voice.” ⁸ Yet they ^(E)did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart, each one of them; therefore I brought on them all the ^(F)words of this covenant which I commanded them to do, but they did not.’”

¹¹ So now, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am ^(A)forming a disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Now ^(B)turn back, each of you from his evil way, and ^[a]correct your ways and your deeds!”’ ¹² But ^(C)they will say, ‘It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will ^[b]persist in the ^(D)stubbornness of his evil heart.’
