2 Timothy 1:3-13
English Standard Version
Guard the Deposit Entrusted to You
3 (A)I thank God (B)whom I serve, as did my ancestors, (C)with a clear conscience, as I remember you (D)constantly in my prayers night and day. 4 (E)As I remember your tears, (F)I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of (G)your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and (H)your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you (I)to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us (J)a spirit not of fear but (K)of power and love and self-control.
8 Therefore (L)do not be ashamed of (M)the testimony about our Lord, nor of (N)me his prisoner, but (O)share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 (P)who saved us and (Q)called us to[a] a holy calling, (R)not because of our works but because of (S)his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus (T)before the ages began,[b] 10 and which now has (U)been manifested through (V)the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, (W)who abolished death and (X)brought life and (Y)immortality to light through the gospel, 11 (Z)for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 (AA)which is why I suffer as I do. But (AB)I am not ashamed, for (AC)I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until (AD)that day (AE)what has been entrusted to me.[c] 13 (AF)Follow (AG)the pattern of (AH)the sound[d] words (AI)that you have heard from me, in (AJ)the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
