But we see him (A)who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, (B)crowned with glory and honor (C)because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might (D)taste death (E)for everyone.

10 For it (F)was fitting that he, (G)for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons (H)to glory, should make the (I)founder of their salvation (J)perfect through suffering. 11 For (K)he who sanctifies and (L)those who are sanctified (M)all have one source.[a] That is why he is not ashamed to call them (N)brothers,[b] 12 saying,

(O)“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
    in the midst of the (P)congregation I will sing your praise.”

13 And again,

(Q)“I will put my trust in him.”

And again,

(R)“Behold, I and the children (S)God has given me.”

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise (T)partook of the same things, that (U)through death he might (V)destroy (W)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who (X)through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he (Y)helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had (Z)to be made like his brothers in every respect, (AA)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest (AB)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered (AC)when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

In the days of his flesh, (A)Jesus[a] offered up prayers and supplications, (B)with loud cries and tears, to him (C)who was able to save him from death, and (D)he was heard because of his reverence. Although (E)he was a son, (F)he learned obedience through what he suffered. And (G)being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, 10 being designated by God a high priest (H)after the order of Melchizedek.
