5 (A)Now no shrub of the field was yet on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, (B)for the Lord God had not sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to [a]cultivate the ground. 6 But a [b]mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole [c]surface of the ground.

New International Version
5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth[a] and no plant had yet sprung up,(A) for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth(B) and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams[b] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
