Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, and all their (A)possessions which they had accumulated, and (B)the [a]people which they had acquired in Haran, and they [b]set out for the land of Canaan; (C)so they came to the land of Canaan. Abram passed through the land as far as the site of (D)Shechem, to the [c]oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanites were in the land at that time. And the Lord (E)appeared to Abram and said, “(F)To your [d]descendants I will give this land.” So he built (G)an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

Abram traveled through the land(E) as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh(F) at Shechem.(G) At that time the Canaanites(H) were in the land. The Lord appeared to Abram(I) and said, “To your offspring[a] I will give this land.(J)(K) So he built an altar there to the Lord,(L) who had appeared to him.
