Deuteronomy 23:4-9
New International Version
4 For they did not come to meet you with bread and water(A) on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam(B) son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim[a](C) to pronounce a curse on you.(D) 5 However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse(E) into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves(F) you. 6 Do not seek a treaty(G) of friendship with them as long as you live.(H)
7 Do not despise an Edomite,(I) for the Edomites are related to you.(J) Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country.(K) 8 The third generation of children born to them may enter the assembly of the Lord.
Uncleanness in the Camp
9 When you are encamped against your enemies, keep away from everything impure.(L)

5 Nevertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.
6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
8 The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the Lord in their third generation.
9 When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.
