Mourning for the One Pierced with a Spear
10 (A) I, the Lord, will make the descendants of David and the people of Jerusalem feel deep sorrow and pray when they see the one they pierced with a spear. They will mourn and weep for him, as parents weep over the death of their only child or their first-born. 11 On that day the people of Jerusalem will mourn as much as everyone did for Hadad Rimmon[a] on the flatlands near Megiddo. 12 Everyone of each family in the land will mourn, and the men will mourn separately from the women. This includes those from the family of David, and the families of Nathan, 13 Levi, Shimei,[b] 14 and all other families as well.

Mourning for the One They Pierced
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a](A) of grace and supplication.(B) They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced,(C) and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child,(D) and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.(E) 11 On that day the weeping(F) in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.(G) 12 The land will mourn,(H) each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, 13 the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, 14 and all the rest of the clans and their wives.(I)
