Gipanghimaraot sa Ginoo ang Dili Kinasingkasing nga Pagpuasa
7 May gisulti ang Ginoo kang Zacarias sa ika-upat nga adlaw sa bulan sa Kislev (ika-siyam nga bulan), niadtong ika-upat nga tuig sa paghari ni Darius. 2-3 Nahitabo kini pagkahuman nga gipadala sa katawhan sa Betel si Sharezer ug si Regem Melec, uban ang ilang mga tawo, aron sa paghangyo sa mga pari sa templo ug sa mga propeta nga pangutan-on ang Ginoo kon kinahanglan pa ba silang magsubo ug magpuasa sa ika-lima nga bulan aron sa paghandom sa pagkaguba sa templo, sama sa ilang ginahimo sulod sa dugay nga mga katuigan. 4 Ug mao kini ang giingon sa Ginoo nga Makagagahom kang Zacarias: 5 “Sultihi ang tanang katawhan sa Israel apil ang mga pari, nga ang ilang pagpuasa ug pagsubo sa matag ika-lima ug ika-pitong bulan sulod sa 70 ka tuig wala nila himoa alang kanako. 6 Ug kon mokaon sila ug moinom, ginahimo lang nila kini alang sa ilang kaugalingon nga kalipay. 7 Mao usab kini ang mensahe nga gipasulti ko sa mga propeta kaniadto, sa panahon nga nagmauswagon pa ang Jerusalem ug daghan pa kinig tawo apil ang mga lungsod sa palibot niini, ang Negev,[a] ug ang kabungtoran sa kasadpan.[b]”
8-9 Miingon pag-usab ang Ginoo nga Makakagahom ngadto kang Zacarias, “Mao kini ang akong giingon sa akong mga katawhan: ‘Paghukom kamo ug matarong. Ipakita ninyo ang kaayo ug kalooy ngadto sa usag usa. 10 Ayaw ninyo daog-daoga ang mga biyuda, mga ilo, mga langyaw, ug ang mga kabos. Ayaw kamo paghunahuna ug daotan batok sa usag usa.’
11 “Apan wala gayod sila magtagad sa akong giingon. Nagmagahi sila ug wala sila mamati. 12 Gipagahi nila ang ilang mga kasingkasing sama sa bato, ug wala sila mamati sa Kasugoan ug sa mga pulong nga gipasugilon sa akong Espiritu pinaagi sa mga propeta kaniadto. Busa ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom, nasuko gayod pag-ayo. 13 Ug tungod kay wala sila mamati sa akong giingon, dili usab ako mamati kon manawag sila kanako. 14 Sama ako sa alimpulos nga mipatibulaag kanila ngadto sa mga dapit nga wala sila masuheto. Gibiyaan nila ang ilang maayong dapit, ug nahimo kining awaaw.”

Justice and Mercy, Not Fasting
7 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah(A) on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Kislev.(B) 2 The people of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-Melek, together with their men, to entreat(C) the Lord(D) 3 by asking the priests of the house of the Lord Almighty and the prophets, “Should I mourn(E) and fast in the fifth(F) month, as I have done for so many years?”
4 Then the word of the Lord Almighty came to me: 5 “Ask all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted(G) and mourned in the fifth and seventh(H) months for the past seventy years,(I) was it really for me that you fasted? 6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not just feasting for yourselves?(J) 7 Are these not the words the Lord proclaimed through the earlier prophets(K) when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were at rest(L) and prosperous, and the Negev and the western foothills(M) were settled?’”(N)
8 And the word of the Lord came again to Zechariah: 9 “This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice;(O) show mercy and compassion to one another.(P) 10 Do not oppress the widow(Q) or the fatherless, the foreigner(R) or the poor.(S) Do not plot evil against each other.’(T)
11 “But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly(U) they turned their backs(V) and covered their ears.(W) 12 They made their hearts as hard as flint(X) and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets.(Y) So the Lord Almighty was very angry.(Z)
13 “‘When I called, they did not listen;(AA) so when they called, I would not listen,’(AB) says the Lord Almighty.(AC) 14 ‘I scattered(AD) them with a whirlwind(AE) among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it.(AF) This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.(AG)’”
