For he shall be like the shrub in the aravah (desert), and shall not see when tov cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the midbar, in an eretz melechah (salt land) and not inhabited.

Baruch hagever asher yivtach baHashem (Blessed is the man that trusteth in Hashem), and whose mivtach (confidence) Hashem is.

For he shall be as an etz planted by the mayim, and that spreadeth out her shorashim (roots) by the brook, and shall not fear when chom (heat) cometh, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the shenat batzoret (year of drought), neither shall cease from yielding p’ri (fruit).

That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
    they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places(A) of the desert,
    in a salt(B) land where no one lives.

“But blessed(C) is the one who trusts(D) in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.(E)
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought(F)
    and never fails to bear fruit.”(G)
