¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “^(A)For this very reason I raised you up, in order to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed ^[a]throughout the earth.” ¹⁸ So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He ^(B)hardens whom He desires.

^19 (C)You will say to me then, “^(D)Why does He still find fault? For ^(E)who has resisted His will?” ²⁰ On the contrary, who are you, ^[b](F)you foolish person, who ^(G)answers back to God? ^(H)The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it?

^22 [a]What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with great ^(A)patience objects of wrath ^(B)prepared for destruction?
