¹⁸ For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my ^(A)flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

²³ but I see ^(A)a different law in ^[a]the parts of my body waging war against the ^(B)law of my mind, and making me a prisoner ^[b]of ^(C)the law of sin, the law which is in ^[c]my body’s parts.

²⁰ Indeed, ^(A)there is not a righteous person on earth who always does good and does not ever sin.

^8 (A)If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the ^(B)truth is not in us.

²³ but I see ^(A)a different law in ^[a]the parts of my body waging war against the ^(B)law of my mind, and making me a prisoner ^[b]of ^(C)the law of sin, the law which is in ^[c]my body’s parts. ²⁴ Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from ^[d](D)the body of this ^(E)death? ^25 (F)Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh ^(G)the law of sin.

¹⁷ For ^(A)the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, ^(B)in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.
