Romans 4:3-8
New American Standard Bible
3 For what does the Scripture say? “(A)Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who (B)works, the wages are not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but (C)believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the person to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “(D)Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven,
And whose sins have been covered.
8 (E)Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not (F)take into account.”

3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[a](A)
4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift(B) but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.(C) 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
