A justificação pela fé em Jesus Cristo
21 Mas, agora, se manifestou, sem a lei, a justiça de Deus, tendo o testemunho da Lei e dos Profetas, 22 isto é, a justiça de Deus pela fé em Jesus Cristo para todos e sobre todos os que creem; porque não há diferença. 23 Porque todos pecaram e destituídos estão da glória de Deus, 24 sendo justificados gratuitamente pela sua graça, pela redenção que há em Cristo Jesus, 25 ao qual Deus propôs para propiciação pela fé no seu sangue, para demonstrar a sua justiça pela remissão dos pecados dantes cometidos, sob a paciência de Deus; 26 para demonstração da sua justiça neste tempo presente, para que ele seja justo e justificador daquele que tem fé em Jesus.
27 Onde está, logo, a jactância? É excluída. Por qual lei? Das obras? Não! Mas pela lei da fé. 28 Concluímos, pois, que o homem é justificado pela fé, sem as obras da lei.

21 Mas agora Deus mostrou-nos como ser justos aos seus olhos, não por obedecermos à Lei, mas pela maneira prometida pela Lei e pelos profetas há muito tempo. 22 Esta justiça de Deus vem pela fé em Jesus Cristo a todos os que creem. Pois não há distinção. 23 Porque todos pecaram, tendo perdido o direito de acesso à glória de Deus. 24 E pela sua graça, que não merecemos, nos declara justos, pela obra redentora de Jesus Cristo, sem nada pagarmos para dela beneficiarmos.
25 Na verdade Deus enviou Jesus Cristo para propiciação pelos nossos pecados, pela fé no sangue que Jesus derramou por nós. Deus mostrou a sua justiça ao redimir os pecados antigos. 26 Ele agiu na sua paciência, a fim de mostrar a sua justiça nos tempos de hoje: ele é justo e justifica os que têm fé em Jesus.
27 Poderemos nós então gabarmo-nos de ter feito alguma coisa para ganhar essa salvação? Com certeza que não. E com base em que lei? Na das obras? Não, antes na da fé. 28 É pois assim que somos declarados justos pela fé em Cristo e não por obras da Lei.

The Message
God Has Set Things Right
21-24 But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.
25-26 God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it’s now—this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness.
27-28 So where does that leave our proud Jewish insider claims and counterclaims? Canceled? Yes, canceled. What we’ve learned is this: God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does. We’ve finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.

17 Porque, se, pela ofensa de um só, a morte reinou por esse, muito mais os que recebem a abundância da graça e do dom da justiça reinarão em vida por um só, Jesus Cristo. 18 Pois assim como por uma só ofensa veio o juízo sobre todos os homens para condenação, assim também por um só ato de justiça veio a graça sobre todos os homens para justificação de vida. 19 Porque, como, pela desobediência de um só homem, muitos foram feitos pecadores, assim, pela obediência de um, muitos serão feitos justos.

18 É verdade que a transgressão de Adão trouxe a todos o castigo, mas a justiça de Deus tornou possível que os homens se tornem justos perante Deus, para que possam viver. 19 Adão, porque desobedeceu a Deus, fez com que muitos se tornassem pecadores, mas Cristo, porque lhe obedeceu, fez que muitos também fossem considerados justos por Deus.

Romans 5:17-19
The Message
15-17 Yet the rescuing gift is not exactly parallel to the death-dealing sin. If one man’s sin put crowds of people at the dead-end abyss of separation from God, just think what God’s gift poured through one man, Jesus Christ, will do! There’s no comparison between that death-dealing sin and this generous, life-giving gift. The verdict on that one sin was the death sentence; the verdict on the many sins that followed was this wonderful life sentence. If death got the upper hand through one man’s wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, absolute life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?
18-19 Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.

Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ—God’s righteousness.

3 Lembra a todos que devem sujeitar-se aos governantes e autoridades instituídas, e obedecer às leis, estando prontos a participar em qualquer obra boa. 2 Não devem falar mal de ninguém, nem meter-se em disputas; devem antes ser amáveis, mostrando simpatia para com toda a gente.
3 Porque nós também, noutro tempo, éramos insensatos e revoltados. Andávamos ao sabor da opinião de outras pessoas, dominados por paixões variadas e por deleites dos sentidos. Vivíamos sob a lei da maldade, da inveja e do ódio e, por isso, nos odiávamos uns aos outros.
4 Mas quando a bondade e o amor divino de Deus nosso Salvador se manifestaram para com a humanidade, 5 ele salvou-nos pela lavagem purificadora do Espírito Santo, da qual emergimos como novamente nascidos, não por causa de atos justos que tivéssemos praticado, mas por causa da sua misericórdia. 6 Esse Espírito Santo, Deus o derramou abundantemente sobre nós, através de Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador. 7 E desta forma, sendo declarados justos pela sua graça, tornámo-nos herdeiros da esperança da vida eterna.

Titus 3:1-11
The Message
He Put Our Lives Together
3 1-2 Remind the people to respect the government and be law-abiding, always ready to lend a helping hand. No insults, no fights. God’s people should be bighearted and courteous.
3-8 It wasn’t so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn, easy marks for sin, ordered every which way by our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. God’s gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s more life to come—an eternity of life! You can count on this.
8-11 I want you to put your foot down. Take a firm stand on these matters so that those who have put their trust in God will concentrate on the essentials that are good for everyone. Stay away from mindless, pointless quarreling over genealogies and fine print in the law code. That gets you nowhere. Warn a quarrelsome person once or twice, but then be done with him. It’s obvious that such a person is out of line, rebellious against God. By persisting in divisiveness he cuts himself off.
