A Scene of Heaven

15 Then I saw (A)another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, (B)seven angels who had (C)seven plagues, which are (D)the last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.

And I saw something like a (E)sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who (F)were victorious [a]over the (G)beast and (H)his image and the (I)number of his name, standing on the (J)sea of glass, holding (K)harps of God. And they *sang the (L)song of Moses, (M)the bond-servant of God, and the (N)song of the Lamb, saying,

(O)Great and marvelous are Your works,
(P)Lord God, the Almighty;
Righteous and true are Your ways,
(Q)King of the [b]nations!
(R)Who will not fear You, Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For (S)all the nations will come and worship before You,
For Your [c](T)righteous acts have been revealed.”

After these things I looked, and (U)the [d]temple of the (V)tabernacle of testimony in heaven was opened, and the (W)seven angels who had the seven plagues (X)came out of the [e]temple, clothed in [f]linen, clean and bright, and (Y)their chests wrapped with golden sashes. And one of the (Z)four living creatures gave the (AA)seven angels seven (AB)golden bowls full of the (AC)wrath of God, who (AD)lives forever and ever. And the [g]temple was filled with (AE)smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one was able to enter the [h]temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.

The Bowls of Wrath

16 Then I heard a loud voice from (AF)the [i]temple, saying to the (AG)seven angels, “Go and (AH)pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

So the first angel went and poured out his bowl (AI)on the earth; and a harmful and painful (AJ)sore [j]afflicted the people (AK)who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.

The second angel poured out his bowl (AL)into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man; and every living [k]thing in the sea died.

Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the (AM)rivers and the springs of waters; and they (AN)became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters saying, “(AO)Righteous are You, (AP)the One who is and who was, O (AQ)Holy One, because You (AR)judged these things; for they poured out (AS)the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them (AT)blood to drink. They [l]deserve it.” And I heard (AU)the altar saying, “Yes, (AV)Lord God, the Almighty, (AW)true and righteous are Your judgments.”

And the fourth angel poured out his bowl upon (AX)the sun, (AY)and it was given power to scorch people with fire. And the people were scorched with [m]fierce heat; and they (AZ)blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they (BA)did not repent so as to (BB)give Him glory.

10 And the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the (BC)throne of the beast, and his kingdom became (BD)darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, 11 and they (BE)blasphemed the (BF)God of heaven because of their pain and their (BG)sores; and they (BH)did not repent of their deeds.

12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the (BI)great river, the Euphrates; and (BJ)its water was dried up, so that (BK)the way would be prepared for the kings (BL)from the [n]east.

Har-Magedon (Armageddon)

13 And I saw coming out of the mouth of the (BM)dragon, and out of the mouth of the (BN)beast, and out of the mouth of the (BO)false prophet, three (BP)unclean spirits like (BQ)frogs; 14 for they are (BR)spirits of demons, (BS)performing signs, which go out to the kings of the (BT)entire [o]world, to (BU)gather them together for the war of the (BV)great day of God, the Almighty. 15 (“Behold, (BW)I am coming like a thief. (BX)Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, (BY)so that he will not walk about naked and people will not see his shame.”) 16 And they (BZ)gathered them together to the place which (CA)in Hebrew is called (CB)Har-Magedon.

The Seventh Bowl of Wrath

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon (CC)the air, and a (CD)loud voice came out of the [p](CE)temple from the throne, saying, “(CF)It is done.” 18 And there were flashes of (CG)lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was (CH)a great earthquake, (CI)such as there had not been since mankind came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. 19 (CJ)The great city [q]was split into three parts, and the cities of the [r]nations fell. (CK)Babylon the great was (CL)remembered in the sight of God, to give her (CM)the cup of the wine of [s]His fierce wrath. 20 And (CN)every island fled, and no mountains were found. 21 And (CO)huge [t]hailstones, weighing about [u]a talent each, *came down from heaven upon people; and people (CP)blasphemed God because of the (CQ)plague of the hail, because [v]the hailstone plague *was extremely [w]severe.

Prelude to the Bowl Judgments

15 Then (A)I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: (B)seven angels having the seven last plagues, (C)for in them the wrath of God is complete.

And I saw something like (D)a sea of glass (E)mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, (F)over his image and [a]over his mark and over the (G)number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, (H)having harps of God. They sing (I)the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the (J)Lamb, saying:

(K)“Great and marvelous are Your works,
Lord God Almighty!
(L)Just and true are Your ways,
O King of the [b]saints!
(M)Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are (N)holy.
For (O)all nations shall come and worship before You,
For Your judgments have been manifested.”

After these things I looked, and [c]behold, (P)the [d]temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. And out of the [e]temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, (Q)clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands. (R)Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God (S)who lives forever and ever. (T)The temple was filled with smoke (U)from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

The Seven Bowls

16 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying (V)to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the [f]bowls (W)of the wrath of God on the earth.”

First Bowl: Loathsome Sores

So the first went and poured out his bowl (X)upon the earth, and a [g]foul and (Y)loathsome sore came upon the men (Z)who had the mark of the beast and those (AA)who worshiped his image.

Second Bowl: The Sea Turns to Blood

Then the second angel poured out his bowl (AB)on the sea, and (AC)it became blood as of a dead man; (AD)and every living creature in the sea died.

Third Bowl: The Waters Turn to Blood

Then the third angel poured out his bowl (AE)on the rivers and springs of water, (AF)and they became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters saying:

(AG)“You are righteous, [h]O Lord,
The One (AH)who is and who [i]was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.
For (AI)they have shed the blood (AJ)of saints and prophets,
(AK)And You have given them blood to drink.
[j]For it is their just due.”

And I heard [k]another from the altar saying, “Even so, (AL)Lord God Almighty, (AM)true and righteous are Your judgments.”

Fourth Bowl: Men Are Scorched

Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl (AN)on the sun, (AO)and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they (AP)blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; (AQ)and they did not repent (AR)and give Him glory.

Fifth Bowl: Darkness and Pain

10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl (AS)on the throne of the beast, (AT)and his kingdom became full of darkness; (AU)and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

Sixth Bowl: Euphrates Dried Up

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl (AV)on the great river Euphrates, (AW)and its water was dried up, (AX)so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean (AY)spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of (AZ)the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of (BA)the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, (BB)performing signs, which go out to the kings [l]of the earth and of (BC)the whole world, to gather them to (BD)the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 (BE)“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, (BF)lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

16 (BG)And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, [m]Armageddon.

Seventh Bowl: The Earth Utterly Shaken

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, (BH)“It is done!” 18 And (BI)there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; (BJ)and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake (BK)as had not occurred since men were on the earth. 19 Now (BL)the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And (BM)great Babylon (BN)was remembered before God, (BO)to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. 20 Then (BP)every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.
