¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the Living one; and I ^[a]was dead, and behold, I am alive ^[b]for evermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

⁸ And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:

These things saith the first and the last, who ^[a]was dead, and lived again:

¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things ^[a]for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.
