Psalm 82
New International Version
Psalm 82
A psalm of Asaph.
2 “How long will you[a] defend the unjust
and show partiality(C) to the wicked?[b](D)
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;(E)
uphold the cause of the poor(F) and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.(G)
They walk about in darkness;(H)
all the foundations(I) of the earth are shaken.

Amos 2:4-11
New International Version
4 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Judah,(A)
even for four, I will not relent.
Because they have rejected the law(B) of the Lord
and have not kept his decrees,(C)
because they have been led astray(D) by false gods,[a](E)
the gods[b] their ancestors followed,(F)
5 I will send fire(G) on Judah
that will consume the fortresses(H) of Jerusalem.(I)”
Judgment on Israel
6 This is what the Lord says:
“For three sins of Israel,
even for four, I will not relent.(J)
They sell the innocent for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals.(K)
7 They trample on the heads of the poor
as on the dust of the ground
and deny justice to the oppressed.
Father and son use the same girl
and so profane my holy name.(L)
8 They lie down beside every altar
on garments taken in pledge.(M)
In the house of their god
they drink wine(N) taken as fines.(O)
Acts 7:9-16

9 “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph,(A) they sold him as a slave into Egypt.(B) But God was with him(C) 10 and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.(D)
11 “Then a famine struck all Egypt and Canaan, bringing great suffering, and our ancestors could not find food.(E) 12 When Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our forefathers on their first visit.(F) 13 On their second visit, Joseph told his brothers who he was,(G) and Pharaoh learned about Joseph’s family.(H) 14 After this, Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his whole family,(I) seventy-five in all.(J) 15 Then Jacob went down to Egypt, where he and our ancestors died.(K) 16 Their bodies were brought back to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought from the sons of Hamor at Shechem for a certain sum of money.(L)
