^11 (A)Such were some of you; but you were ^(B)washed, but you were ^(C)sanctified, but you were ^(D)justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and ^[a]in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ nevertheless, knowing that ^(A)a person is not justified by works of ^[a]the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by ^(B)faith in Christ and not by works of ^[b]the Law; since ^(C)by works of ^[c]the Law no ^[d]flesh will be justified.

^18 (A)But someone ^[a]may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your ^(B)faith without the works, and I will ^(C)show you my faith ^(D)by my works.” ¹⁹ You believe that ^[b](E)God is one. ^(F)You do well; ^(G)the demons also believe, and shudder.
