³ Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land^(A) and enjoy safe pasture.^(B)
4 Take delight^(C) in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.^(D)

⁵ Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him^(E) and he will do this:
⁶ He will make your righteous reward^(F) shine like the dawn,^(G)
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

⁷ Be still^(H) before the Lord
    and wait patiently^(I) for him;
do not fret^(J) when people succeed in their ways,^(K)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.^(L)

³⁸ But all sinners^(A) will be destroyed;^(B)
    there will be no future^[a] for the wicked.^(C)

³⁹ The salvation^(D) of the righteous comes from the Lord;
    he is their stronghold in time of trouble.^(E)
40 The Lord helps^(F) them and delivers^(G) them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves^(H) them,
    because they take refuge^(I) in him.
