¹⁴ So make yourself an ark of cypress^[a] wood;^(A) make rooms in it and coat it with pitch^(B) inside and out.

⁴ So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig^(A) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.^(B)

³ Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,^[a] Judas and Simon?^(A) Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.^(B)

¹⁹ Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.^(A)

⁹ The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees^(A) that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life^(B) and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.^(C)

²² And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us,^(A) knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life^(B) and eat, and live forever.”
