Psalm 64:4-9

New King James Version

⁴That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

⁵They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
^(A)They say, “Who will see them?”
⁶They devise iniquities:
“We have perfected a shrewd scheme.”
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.

⁷But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly they shall be wounded.
⁸So He will make them stumble over their own tongue;
^(B)All who see them shall flee away.
⁹All men shall fear,
And shall ^(C)declare the work of God;
For they shall wisely consider His doing.

they shoot suddenly, without fear.^(B)

⁵They encourage each other in evil plans,
    they talk about hiding their snares;^(C)
    they say, “Who will see it^[a]?”^(D)
⁶They plot injustice and say,
    “We have devised a perfect plan!”
    Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

⁷But God will shoot them with his arrows;
    they will suddenly be struck down.
⁸He will turn their own tongues against them^(E)
    and bring them to ruin;
    all who see them will shake their heads^(F) in scorn.^(G)
⁹All people will fear;^(H)
    they will proclaim the works of God
    and ponder what he has done.^(I)
