Psalm 59-64

New King James Version

³ For look, they lie in wait for my life;
^(B)The mighty gather against me,
Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Lord.
⁴ They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine.

^(C)Awake to help me, and behold!
⁵ You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the ^[c]nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah

^6 (D)At evening they return,
They growl like a dog,
And go all around the city.
⁷ Indeed, they belch with their mouth;
^(E)Swords are in their lips;
For they say, ^(F)“Who hears?”

⁸ But ^(G)You, O Lord, shall laugh at them;
You shall have all the ^[d]nations in derision.
⁹ I will wait for You, O You ^[e]his Strength;
^(H)For God is my ^[f]defense.
^10 [g]My God of mercy shall ^(I)come to meet me;
God shall let ^(J)me see my desire on my enemies.

¹¹ Do not slay them, lest my people forget;
Scatter them by Your power,
And bring them down,
O Lord our shield.
^12 (K)For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips,
Let them even be taken in their pride,
And for the cursing and lying which they speak.
^13 (L)Consume them in wrath, consume them,
That they may not be;
And ^(M)let them know that God rules in Jacob
To the ends of the earth. Selah

¹⁴ And ^(N)at evening they return,

And ^[h]howl if they are not satisfied.

¹⁶ But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
¹⁷ To You, ^(P)O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.

^4 (X)You have given a banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah
^5 (Y)That Your beloved may be delivered,
Save with Your right hand, and hear me.

⁶ God has ^(Z)spoken in His holiness:
“I will rejoice;
I will ^(AA)divide ^(AB)Shechem
And measure out ^(AC)the Valley of Succoth.
⁷ Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
^(AD)Ephraim also is the ^[k]helmet for My head;
^(AE)Judah is My lawgiver.
^8 (AF)Moab is My washpot;
^(AG)Over Edom I will cast My shoe;
^(AH)Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”

⁹ Who will bring me to the strong city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
¹⁰ Is it not You, O God, ^(AI)who cast us off?
And You, O God, who did ^(AJ)not go out with our armies?
¹¹ Give us help from trouble,
^(AK)For the help of man is useless.
¹² Through God ^(AL)we will do valiantly,
For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

³ For You have been a shelter for me,
^(AM)A strong tower from the enemy.
⁴ I will abide in Your ^[m]tabernacle forever;
^(AN)I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

⁵ For You, O God, have heard my vows;
You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
⁶ You will prolong the king’s life,
His years as many generations.
⁷ He shall abide before God forever.
Oh, prepare mercy ^(AO)and truth, which may ^[n]preserve him!

⁸ So I will sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may daily perform my vows.

³ How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
^(AS)Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
⁴ They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They ^(AT)delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah

⁵ My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my ^[q]expectation is from Him.
⁶ He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be ^[r]moved.
^7 (AU)In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.

⁸ Trust in Him at all times, you people;
^(AV)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

^9 (AW)Surely men of low degree are ^[s]a vapor,
Men of high degree are a lie;
If they are weighed on the scales,
They are altogether lighter than vapor.
¹⁰ Do not trust in oppression,
Nor vainly hope in robbery;
^(AX)If riches increase,
Do not set your heart on them.

¹¹ God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God.
¹² Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;
For ^(AY)You ^[t]render to each one according to his work.

^3 (BC)Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
⁴ Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will ^(BD)lift up my hands in Your name.
⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with ^[u]marrow and ^[v]fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

⁶ When ^(BE)I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
⁷ Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
⁸ My soul follows close behind You;
Your right hand upholds me.

⁹ But those who seek my life, to destroy it,
Shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
¹⁰ They shall ^[w]fall by the sword;
They shall be ^[x]a portion for jackals.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God;
^(BF)Everyone who swears by Him shall glory;
But the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
^(BH)They say, “Who will see them?”
⁶ They devise iniquities:
“We have perfected a shrewd scheme.”
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.

⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly they shall be wounded.
⁸ So He will make them stumble over their own tongue;
^(BI)All who see them shall flee away.
⁹ All men shall fear,
And shall ^(BJ)declare the work of God;
For they shall wisely consider His doing.

^10 (BK)The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him.
And all the upright in heart shall glory.
