³ Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land^(A) and enjoy safe pasture.^(B)
4 Take delight^(C) in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.^(D)

⁵ Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him^(E) and he will do this:
⁶ He will make your righteous reward^(F) shine like the dawn,^(G)
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

⁷ Be still^(H) before the Lord
    and wait patiently^(I) for him;
do not fret^(J) when people succeed in their ways,^(K)
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.^(L)

²³ The Lord makes firm the steps^(A)
    of the one who delights^(B) in him;
²⁴ though he may stumble, he will not fall,^(C)
    for the Lord upholds^(D) him with his hand.

²⁷ Turn from evil and do good;^(A)
    then you will dwell in the land forever.^(B)
28 For the Lord loves the just
    and will not forsake his faithful ones.^(C)

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed^[a];
    the offspring of the wicked will perish.^(D)
29 The righteous will inherit the land^(E)
    and dwell in it forever.^(F)

³⁰ The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,^(G)
    and their tongues speak what is just.
³¹ The law of their God is in their hearts;^(H)
    their feet do not slip.^(I)

³⁴ Hope in the Lord^(A)
    and keep his way.^(B)
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    when the wicked are destroyed,^(C) you will see^(D) it.

³⁹ The salvation^(A) of the righteous comes from the Lord;
    he is their stronghold in time of trouble.^(B)
40 The Lord helps^(C) them and delivers^(D) them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves^(E) them,
    because they take refuge^(F) in him.
