Psalm 34:1-8

New International Version

Psalm 34^[a]^[b]

Of David. When he pretended to be insane^(A) before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.

¹I will extol the Lord at all times;^(B)
    his praise will always be on my lips.
²I will glory^(C) in the Lord;
    let the afflicted hear and rejoice.^(D)
³Glorify the Lord^(E) with me;
    let us exalt^(F) his name together.

⁴I sought the Lord,^(G) and he answered me;
    he delivered^(H) me from all my fears.
⁵Those who look to him are radiant;^(I)
    their faces are never covered with shame.^(J)
⁶This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
    he saved him out of all his troubles.^(K)
⁷The angel of the Lord^(L) encamps around those who fear him,
    and he delivers^(M) them.

⁸Taste and see that the Lord is good;^(N)
blessed is the one who takes refuge^(O) in him.

⁷After the Lord had said these things to Job^(A), he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends,^(B) because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.^(C) ⁸So now take seven bulls and seven rams^(D) and go to my servant Job^(E) and sacrifice a burnt offering^(F) for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer^(G) and not deal with you according to your folly.^(H) You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”^(I) ⁹So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite^(J) did what the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer.^(K)

Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida

²²They came to Bethsaida,^(A) and some people brought a blind man^(B) and begged Jesus to touch him. ²³He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit^(C) on the man’s eyes and put his hands on^(D) him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”

²⁴He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

²⁵Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. ²⁶Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into^[a] the village.”
