    I will counsel you with my loving eye on^(C) you.

“What right have you to recite my laws
    or take my covenant^(A) on your lips?^(B)
17 You hate^(C) my instruction
    and cast my words behind^(D) you.
¹⁸ When you see a thief, you join^(E) with him;
    you throw in your lot with adulterers.^(F)

⁹ Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
    Does he who formed the eye not see?^(A)
10 Does he who disciplines^(B) nations not punish?
    Does he who teaches^(C) mankind lack knowledge?
¹¹ The Lord knows all human plans;^(D)
    he knows that they are futile.^(E)

¹² Blessed is the one you discipline,^(F) Lord,
    the one you teach^(G) from your law;
