Psalm 19:7-14

⁷^(A)The law of the Lord is perfect, ^[a]converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making ^(B)wise the simple;
⁸The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
⁹The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
¹⁰More to be desired are they than ^(C)gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the ^[b]honeycomb.
¹¹Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.

¹²Who can understand his errors?
^(D)Cleanse me from secret faults.
¹³Keep back Your servant also from ^(E)presumptuous sins;
Let them not have ^(F)dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of ^[c]great transgression.

¹⁴^(G)Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my ^[d]strength and my ^(H)Redeemer.

The Law Inscribed on Stones

27 Now Moses, with the elders of Israel, commanded the people, saying: “Keep all the commandments which I command you today. ²And it shall be, on the day ^(A)when you cross over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that ^(B)you shall set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime. ³You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, ^(C)‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you. ⁴Therefore it shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that ^(D)on Mount Ebal you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, and you shall whitewash them with lime. ⁵And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; ^(E)you shall not use an iron tool on them. ⁶You shall build with ^[a]whole stones the altar of the Lord your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. ⁷You shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and ^(F)rejoice before the Lord your God. ⁸And you shall ^(G)write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”

⁹Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, “Take heed and listen, O Israel: ^(H)This day you have become the people of the Lord your God. ¹⁰Therefore you shall obey the voice of the Lord your God, and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”

Believers Are Salt and Light^(A)

¹³“You are the salt of the earth; ^(B)but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

¹⁴^(C)“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵Nor do they ^(D)light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. ¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, ^(E)that they may see your good works and ^(F)glorify your Father in heaven.

Christ Fulfills the Law

¹⁷^(G)“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. ¹⁸For assuredly, I say to you, ^(H)till heaven and earth pass away, one ^[a]jot or one ^[b]tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. ¹⁹^(I)Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. ²⁰For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds ^(J)the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
