⁴ just as ^(A)He chose us in Him ^(B)before the foundation of the world, that we should ^(C)be holy and without blame before Him in love, ^5 (D)having predestined us to ^(E)adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, ^(F)according to the good pleasure of His will, ⁶ to the praise of the glory of His grace, ^(G)by which He ^[a]made us accepted in ^(H)the Beloved.

^7 (I)In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to ^(J)the riches of His grace ⁸ which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and ^[b]prudence, ^9 (K)having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure ^(L)which He purposed in Himself, ¹⁰ that in the dispensation of ^(M)the fullness of the times ^(N)He might gather together in one ^(O)all things in Christ, ^[c]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. ^11 (P)In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to ^(Q)the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, ^12 (R)that we ^(S)who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

Not Ashamed of the Gospel

^8 (A)Therefore do not be ashamed of ^(B)the testimony of our Lord, nor of me ^(C)His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, ⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, ^(D)not according to our works, but ^(E)according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus ^(F)before time began, ¹⁰ but ^(G)has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, ^11 (H)to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher ^[a]of the Gentiles.

1 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and ^(A)the acknowledgment of the truth ^(B)which accords with godliness, ² in hope of eternal life which God, who ^(C)cannot lie, promised before time began, ³ but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;
