Psalm 110

Of David. A psalm.

¹The Lord says^(A) to my lord:^[a]

“Sit at my right hand^(B)
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”^(C)

²The Lord will extend your mighty scepter^(D) from Zion,^(E) saying,
    “Rule^(F) in the midst of your enemies!”
³Your troops will be willing
    on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy splendor,^(G)
    your young men will come to you
    like dew from the morning’s womb.^[b]^(H)

⁴The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:^(I)
“You are a priest forever,^(J)
in the order of Melchizedek.^(K)”

⁵The Lord is at your right hand^[c];^(L)
    he will crush kings^(M) on the day of his wrath.^(N)
⁶He will judge the nations,^(O) heaping up the dead^(P)
    and crushing the rulers^(Q) of the whole earth.
⁷He will drink from a brook along the way,^[d]
    and so he will lift his head high.^(R)

Psalm 111^[e]

¹Praise the Lord.^[f]

I will extol the Lord^(S) with all my heart^(T)
in the council^(U) of the upright and in the assembly.^(V)

²Great are the works^(W) of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all^(X) who delight in them.
³Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures^(Y) forever.
⁴He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.^(Z)
⁵He provides food^(AA) for those who fear him;^(AB)
    he remembers his covenant^(AC) forever.

⁶He has shown his people the power of his works,^(AD)
    giving them the lands of other nations.^(AE)
⁷The works of his hands^(AF) are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.^(AG)
⁸They are established for ever^(AH) and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
⁹He provided redemption^(AI) for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome^(AJ) is his name.

¹⁰The fear of the Lord^(AK) is the beginning of wisdom;^(AL)
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.^(AM)
To him belongs eternal praise.^(AN)

Psalm 112^[g]

¹Praise the Lord.^[h]^(AO)

Blessed are those^(AP) who fear the Lord,^(AQ)
who find great delight^(AR) in his commands.

²Their children^(AS) will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
³Wealth and riches^(AT) are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures^(AU) forever.
⁴Even in darkness light dawns^(AV) for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.^(AW)
⁵Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,^(AX)
    who conduct their affairs with justice.

⁶Surely the righteous will never be shaken;^(AY)
    they will be remembered^(AZ) forever.
⁷They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast,^(BA) trusting in the Lord.^(BB)
⁸Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;^(BC)
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.^(BD)
⁹They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,^(BE)
    their righteousness endures^(BF) forever;
    their horn^[i] will be lifted^(BG) high in honor.

¹⁰The wicked will see^(BH) and be vexed,
they will gnash their teeth^(BI) and waste away;^(BJ)
the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.^(BK)

Psalm 113

¹Praise the Lord.^[j]^(BL)

Praise the Lord, you his servants;^(BM)
    praise the name of the Lord.
²Let the name of the Lord be praised,^(BN)
    both now and forevermore.^(BO)
³From the rising of the sun^(BP) to the place where it sets,
    the name of the Lord is to be praised.

⁴The Lord is exalted^(BQ) over all the nations,
    his glory above the heavens.^(BR)
⁵Who is like the Lord our God,^(BS)
    the One who sits enthroned^(BT) on high,^(BU)
⁶who stoops down to look^(BV)
    on the heavens and the earth?

⁷He raises the poor^(BW) from the dust
    and lifts the needy^(BX) from the ash heap;
⁸he seats them^(BY) with princes,
    with the princes of his people.
⁹He settles the childless^(BZ) woman in her home
    as a happy mother of children.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 114

¹When Israel came out of Egypt,^(CA)
Jacob from a people of foreign tongue,
²Judah^(CB) became God’s sanctuary,^(CC)
Israel his dominion.

³The sea looked and fled,^(CD)
the Jordan turned back;^(CE)
⁴the mountains leaped^(CF) like rams,
the hills like lambs.

⁵Why was it, sea, that you fled?^(CG)
Why, Jordan, did you turn back?
⁶Why, mountains, did you leap like rams,
you hills, like lambs?

⁷Tremble, earth,^(CH) at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
⁸who turned the rock into a pool,
the hard rock into springs of water.^(CI)

Psalm 115^(CJ)

¹Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,^(CK)
because of your love and faithfulness.^(CL)

²Why do the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”^(CM)
³Our God is in heaven;^(CN)
    he does whatever pleases him.^(CO)
⁴But their idols are silver and gold,^(CP)
    made by human hands.^(CQ)
⁵They have mouths, but cannot speak,^(CR)
    eyes, but cannot see.
⁶They have ears, but cannot hear,
    noses, but cannot smell.
⁷They have hands, but cannot feel,
    feet, but cannot walk,
    nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
⁸Those who make them will be like them,
    and so will all who trust in them.

⁹All you Israelites, trust^(CS) in the Lord—
    he is their help and shield.
¹⁰House of Aaron,^(CT) trust in the Lord—
    he is their help and shield.
¹¹You who fear him,^(CU) trust in the Lord—
    he is their help and shield.

¹²The Lord remembers^(CV) us and will bless us:^(CW)
    He will bless his people Israel,
    he will bless the house of Aaron,
¹³he will bless those who fear^(CX) the Lord—
    small and great alike.

¹⁴May the Lord cause you to flourish,^(CY)
both you and your children.
¹⁵May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven^(CZ) and earth.

¹⁶The highest heavens belong to the Lord,^(DA)
    but the earth he has given^(DB) to mankind.
¹⁷It is not the dead^(DC) who praise the Lord,
    those who go down to the place of silence;
¹⁸it is we who extol the Lord,^(DD)
    both now and forevermore.^(DE)

Psalm 116

¹I love the Lord,^(DG) for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry^(DH) for mercy.^(DI)
²Because he turned his ear^(DJ) to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.

³The cords of death^(DK) entangled me,
    the anguish of the grave came over me;
    I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
⁴Then I called on the name^(DL) of the Lord:
    “Lord, save me!^(DM)”

⁵The Lord is gracious and righteous;^(DN)
our God is full of compassion.^(DO)
⁶The Lord protects the unwary;
when I was brought low,^(DP) he saved me.^(DQ)

⁷Return to your rest,^(DR) my soul,
for the Lord has been good^(DS) to you.

⁸For you, Lord, have delivered me^(DT) from death,
    my eyes from tears,
    my feet from stumbling,
⁹that I may walk before the Lord^(DU)
    in the land of the living.^(DV)

¹⁰I trusted^(DW) in the Lord when I said,
“I am greatly afflicted”;^(DX)
¹¹in my alarm I said,
“Everyone is a liar.”^(DY)

¹²What shall I return to the Lord
for all his goodness^(DZ) to me?

¹³I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name^(EA) of the Lord.
¹⁴I will fulfill my vows^(EB) to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.

¹⁵Precious in the sight^(EC) of the Lord
    is the death of his faithful servants.^(ED)
¹⁶Truly I am your servant, Lord;^(EE)
    I serve you just as my mother did;^(EF)
    you have freed me from my chains.^(EG)

¹⁷I will sacrifice a thank offering^(EH) to you
    and call on the name of the Lord.
¹⁸I will fulfill my vows^(EI) to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people,
¹⁹in the courts^(EJ) of the house of the Lord—
    in your midst, Jerusalem.^(EK)

Psalm 117

¹Praise the Lord,^(EL) all you nations;^(EM)
extol him, all you peoples.
²For great is his love^(EN) toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord^(EO) endures forever.

Praise the Lord.^[m]

Psalm 118

¹Give thanks to the Lord,^(EP) for he is good;^(EQ)
his love endures forever.^(ER)

²Let Israel say:^(ES)
    “His love endures forever.”^(ET)
³Let the house of Aaron say:^(EU)
    “His love endures forever.”
⁴Let those who fear the Lord^(EV) say:
    “His love endures forever.”

⁵When hard pressed,^(EW) I cried to the Lord;
    he brought me into a spacious place.^(EX)
⁶The Lord is with me;^(EY) I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?^(EZ)
⁷The Lord is with me; he is my helper.^(FA)
    I look in triumph on my enemies.^(FB)

⁸It is better to take refuge in the Lord^(FC)
    than to trust in humans.^(FD)
⁹It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in princes.^(FE)
¹⁰All the nations surrounded me,
    but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.^(FF)
¹¹They surrounded me^(FG) on every side,^(FH)
    but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
¹²They swarmed around me like bees,^(FI)
    but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;^(FJ)
    in the name of the Lord I cut them down.^(FK)
¹³I was pushed back and about to fall,
    but the Lord helped me.^(FL)
¹⁴The Lord is my strength^(FM) and my defense^[n];
    he has become my salvation.^(FN)

¹⁵Shouts of joy^(FO) and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand^(FP) has done mighty things!^(FQ)
¹⁶    The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
¹⁷I will not die^(FR) but live,
    and will proclaim^(FS) what the Lord has done.
¹⁸The Lord has chastened^(FT) me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.^(FU)
¹⁹Open for me the gates^(FV) of the righteous;
    I will enter^(FW) and give thanks to the Lord.
²⁰This is the gate of the Lord^(FX)
    through which the righteous may enter.^(FY)
²¹I will give you thanks, for you answered me;^(FZ)
    you have become my salvation.^(GA)

²²The stone^(GB) the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;^(GC)
²³the Lord has done this,
    and it is marvelous^(GD) in our eyes.
²⁴The Lord has done it this very day;
    let us rejoice today and be glad.^(GE)

²⁵Lord, save us!^(GF)
Lord, grant us success!

²⁶Blessed is he who comes^(GG) in the name of the Lord.
    From the house of the Lord we bless you.^[o]^(GH)
²⁷The Lord is God,^(GI)
    and he has made his light shine^(GJ) on us.
With boughs in hand,^(GK) join in the festal procession
    up^[p] to the horns of the altar.^(GL)

²⁸You are my God, and I will praise you;
you are my God,^(GM) and I will exalt^(GN) you.

²⁹Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

Psalm 119^[q]

¹Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,^(GO)
    who walk^(GP) according to the law of the Lord.^(GQ)
²Blessed^(GR) are those who keep his statutes^(GS)
    and seek him^(GT) with all their heart—^(GU)
³they do no wrong^(GV)
    but follow his ways.^(GW)
⁴You have laid down precepts^(GX)
    that are to be fully obeyed.^(GY)
⁵Oh, that my ways were steadfast
    in obeying your decrees!^(GZ)
⁶Then I would not be put to shame^(HA)
    when I consider all your commands.^(HB)
⁷I will praise you with an upright heart
    as I learn your righteous laws.^(HC)
⁸I will obey your decrees;
    do not utterly forsake me.^(HD)

⁹How can a young person stay on the path of purity?^(HE)
    By living according to your word.^(HF)
¹⁰I seek you with all my heart;^(HG)
    do not let me stray from your commands.^(HH)
¹¹I have hidden your word in my heart^(HI)
    that I might not sin^(HJ) against you.
¹²Praise be^(HK) to you, Lord;
    teach me^(HL) your decrees.^(HM)
¹³With my lips I recount
    all the laws that come from your mouth.^(HN)
¹⁴I rejoice in following your statutes^(HO)
    as one rejoices in great riches.
¹⁵I meditate on your precepts^(HP)
    and consider your ways.
¹⁶I delight^(HQ) in your decrees;
    I will not neglect your word.

¹⁷Be good to your servant^(HR) while I live,
    that I may obey your word.^(HS)
¹⁸Open my eyes that I may see
    wonderful things in your law.
¹⁹I am a stranger on earth;^(HT)
    do not hide your commands from me.
²⁰My soul is consumed^(HU) with longing
    for your laws^(HV) at all times.
²¹You rebuke the arrogant,^(HW) who are accursed,^(HX)
    those who stray^(HY) from your commands.
²²Remove from me their scorn^(HZ) and contempt,
    for I keep your statutes.^(IA)
²³Though rulers sit together and slander me,
    your servant will meditate on your decrees.
²⁴Your statutes are my delight;
    they are my counselors.

⁴¹May your unfailing love^(JE) come to me, Lord,
    your salvation, according to your promise;^(JF)

    for I trust in your word.

    for I have put my hope^(JJ) in your laws.

⁴⁵I will walk about in freedom,

⁴⁹Remember your word^(JR) to your servant,
    for you have given me hope.^(JS)
⁵⁰My comfort in my suffering is this:
    Your promise preserves my life.^(JT)
⁵¹The arrogant mock me^(JU) unmercifully,
    but I do not turn^(JV) from your law.
⁵²I remember,^(JW) Lord, your ancient laws,
    and I find comfort in them.
⁵³Indignation grips me^(JX) because of the wicked,
    who have forsaken your law.^(JY)
⁵⁴Your decrees are the theme of my song^(JZ)
    wherever I lodge.
⁵⁵In the night, Lord, I remember^(KA) your name,
    that I may keep your law.^(KB)
⁵⁶This has been my practice:
    I obey your precepts.^(KC)

⁵⁷You are my portion,^(KD) Lord;
    I have promised to obey your words.^(KE)
⁵⁸I have sought^(KF) your face with all my heart;
    be gracious to me^(KG) according to your promise.^(KH)
⁵⁹I have considered my ways^(KI)
    and have turned my steps to your statutes.
⁶⁰I will hasten and not delay
    to obey your commands.^(KJ)
⁶¹Though the wicked bind me with ropes,
    I will not forget^(KK) your law.
⁶²At midnight^(KL) I rise to give you thanks
    for your righteous laws.^(KM)
⁶³I am a friend to all who fear you,^(KN)
    to all who follow your precepts.^(KO)
⁶⁴The earth is filled with your love,^(KP) Lord;
    teach me your decrees.^(KQ)

⁶⁵Do good^(KR) to your servant
    according to your word,^(KS) Lord.
⁶⁶Teach me knowledge^(KT) and good judgment,
    for I trust your commands.
⁶⁷Before I was afflicted^(KU) I went astray,^(KV)
    but now I obey your word.^(KW)
⁶⁸You are good,^(KX) and what you do is good;
    teach me your decrees.^(KY)
⁶⁹Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,^(KZ)
    I keep your precepts with all my heart.
⁷⁰Their hearts are callous^(LA) and unfeeling,
    but I delight in your law.
⁷¹It was good for me to be afflicted^(LB)
    so that I might learn your decrees.
⁷²The law from your mouth is more precious to me
    than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.^(LC)

⁷³Your hands made me^(LD) and formed me;
    give me understanding to learn your commands.
⁷⁴May those who fear you rejoice^(LE) when they see me,
    for I have put my hope in your word.^(LF)
⁷⁵I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous,^(LG)
    and that in faithfulness^(LH) you have afflicted me.
⁷⁶May your unfailing love^(LI) be my comfort,
    according to your promise^(LJ) to your servant.
⁷⁷Let your compassion^(LK) come to me that I may live,
    for your law is my delight.^(LL)
⁷⁸May the arrogant^(LM) be put to shame for wronging me without cause;^(LN)
    but I will meditate on your precepts.

    that I may not be put to shame.^(LR)

⁸¹My soul faints^(LS) with longing for your salvation,^(LT)
    but I have put my hope^(LU) in your word.
⁸²My eyes fail,^(LV) looking for your promise;^(LW)
    I say, “When will you comfort me?”
⁸³Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke,
    I do not forget^(LX) your decrees.
⁸⁴How long^(LY) must your servant wait?
    When will you punish my persecutors?^(LZ)
⁸⁵The arrogant^(MA) dig pits^(MB) to trap me,
    contrary to your law.
⁸⁶All your commands are trustworthy;^(MC)
    help me,^(MD) for I am being persecuted^(ME) without cause.^(MF)
⁸⁷They almost wiped me from the earth,
    but I have not forsaken^(MG) your precepts.

⁸⁹Your word, Lord, is eternal;^(MK)
    it stands firm in the heavens.
⁹⁰Your faithfulness^(ML) continues through all generations;^(MM)
    you established the earth, and it endures.^(MN)
⁹¹Your laws endure^(MO) to this day,
    for all things serve you.^(MP)
⁹²If your law had not been my delight,^(MQ)
    I would have perished in my affliction.^(MR)
⁹³I will never forget^(MS) your precepts,
    for by them you have preserved my life.^(MT)

    I have sought out your precepts.^(MV)
⁹⁵The wicked are waiting to destroy me,^(MW)

    a light^(NN) on my path.
¹⁰⁶I have taken an oath^(NO) and confirmed it,
    that I will follow your righteous laws.^(NP)

    preserve my life,^(NQ) Lord, according to your word.
¹⁰⁸Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth,^(NR)
    and teach me your laws.^(NS)

    but I have not strayed^(NW) from your precepts.

¹¹³I hate double-minded people,^(OA)
    but I love your law.^(OB)

¹¹⁶Sustain me,^(OF) my God, according to your promise,^(OG) and I will live;

    I stand in awe^(OQ) of your laws.

¹²¹I have done what is righteous and just;^(OR)
    do not leave me to my oppressors.
¹²²Ensure your servant’s well-being;^(OS)
    do not let the arrogant oppress me.^(OT)
¹²³My eyes fail,^(OU) looking for your salvation,^(OV)
    looking for your righteous promise.^(OW)
¹²⁴Deal with your servant according to your love^(OX)
    and teach me your decrees.^(OY)
¹²⁵I am your servant;^(OZ) give me discernment
    that I may understand your statutes.^(PA)
¹²⁶It is time for you to act, Lord;
    your law is being broken.^(PB)
¹²⁷Because I love your commands^(PC)
    more than gold,^(PD) more than pure gold,^(PE)
¹²⁸and because I consider all your precepts right,^(PF)
    I hate every wrong path.^(PG)

    that I may obey your precepts.^(PT)

¹³⁶Streams of tears^(PW) flow from my eyes,
    for your law is not obeyed.^(PX)

¹³⁷You are righteous,^(PY) Lord,
