¹Give thanks to the Lord,^(A) for he is good;^(B)
his love endures forever.

²Let the redeemed^(C) of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
³those he gathered^(D) from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.^[a]

¹⁷Some became fools^(A) through their rebellious ways^(B)
    and suffered affliction^(C) because of their iniquities.
¹⁸They loathed all food^(D)
    and drew near the gates of death.^(E)
¹⁹Then they cried^(F) to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he saved them^(G) from their distress.
²⁰He sent out his word^(H) and healed them;^(I)
    he rescued^(J) them from the grave.^(K)
²¹Let them give thanks^(L) to the Lord for his unfailing love^(M)
    and his wonderful deeds^(N) for mankind.
²²Let them sacrifice thank offerings^(O)

Daniel 12:5-13

New International Version

⁵Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.^(A) ⁶One of them said to the man clothed in linen,^(B) who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”^(C)

⁷The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand^(D) and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever,^(E) saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.^[a]^(F) When the power of the holy people^(G) has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.^(H)”

⁸I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”

⁹He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed^(I) until the time of the end.^(J) ¹⁰Many will be purified, made spotless and refined,^(K) but the wicked will continue to be wicked.^(L) None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.^(M)

¹¹“From the time that the daily sacrifice^(N) is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation^(O) is set up, there will be 1,290 days.^(P) ¹²Blessed is the one who waits^(Q) for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.^(R)

¹³“As for you, go your way till the end.^(S) You will rest,^(T) and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.^(U)”

⁷In him we have redemption^(A) through his blood,^(B) the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches^(C) of God’s grace ⁸that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, ⁹he^[a] made known to us the mystery^(D) of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed^(E) in Christ, ¹⁰to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment^(F)—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.^(G)

¹¹In him we were also chosen,^[b] having been predestined^(H) according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose^(I) of his will, ¹²in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.^(J) ¹³And you also were included in Christ^(K) when you heard the message of truth,^(L) the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,^(M) the promised Holy Spirit,^(N) ¹⁴who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance^(O) until the redemption^(P) of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.^(Q)
