24 How many are your works,(A) Lord!
    In wisdom you made(B) them all;
    the earth is full of your creatures.(C)
25 There is the sea,(D) vast and spacious,
    teeming with creatures beyond number—
    living things both large and small.(E)
26 There the ships(F) go to and fro,
    and Leviathan,(G) which you formed to frolic(H) there.(I)

27 All creatures look to you
    to give them their food(J) at the proper time.
28 When you give it to them,
    they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
    they are satisfied(K) with good things.
29 When you hide your face,(L)
    they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
    they die and return to the dust.(M)
30 When you send your Spirit,(N)
    they are created,
    and you renew the face of the ground.

31 May the glory of the Lord(O) endure forever;
    may the Lord rejoice in his works(P)
32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,(Q)
    who touches the mountains,(R) and they smoke.(S)

33 I will sing(T) to the Lord all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
    as I rejoice(U) in the Lord.

24 O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

25 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

28 That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

31 The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.

32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.

11 Tremble,(A) you complacent women;
    shudder, you daughters who feel secure!(B)
Strip off your fine clothes(C)
    and wrap yourselves in rags.(D)
12 Beat your breasts(E) for the pleasant fields,
    for the fruitful vines(F)
13 and for the land of my people,
    a land overgrown with thorns and briers(G)
yes, mourn(H) for all houses of merriment
    and for this city of revelry.(I)
14 The fortress(J) will be abandoned,
    the noisy city deserted;(K)
citadel and watchtower(L) will become a wasteland forever,
    the delight of donkeys,(M) a pasture for flocks,(N)
15 till the Spirit(O) is poured on us from on high,
    and the desert becomes a fertile field,(P)
    and the fertile field seems like a forest.(Q)
16 The Lord’s justice(R) will dwell in the desert,(S)
    his righteousness(T) live in the fertile field.
17 The fruit of that righteousness(U) will be peace;(V)
    its effect will be quietness and confidence(W) forever.

11 Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

12 They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

13 Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:

14 Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;

15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

16 Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit,(A) and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.(B) 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.(C) They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want.(D) 18 But if you are led by the Spirit,(E) you are not under the law.(F)

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality,(G) impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.(H) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.(I)

22 But the fruit(J) of the Spirit is love,(K) joy, peace,(L) forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.(M) Against such things there is no law.(N) 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh(O) with its passions and desires.(P) 25 Since we live by the Spirit,(Q) let us keep in step with the Spirit.

  1. Galatians 5:17 Or you do not do what

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
