³ The ^(G)floods have lifted up, Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice,
The floods lift up their pounding waves.
⁴ More than the sounds of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
The Lord ^(H)on high is mighty.
⁵ Your ^(I)testimonies are fully confirmed;
^(J)Holiness is pleasing to Your house,
Lord, ^[b]forevermore.

⁸ Pay attention, you ^(W)stupid ones among the people;
And when will you understand, ^(X)foolish ones?
⁹ He who ^(Y)planted the ear, ^[g]does He not hear?
Or He who formed the eye, ^[h]does He not see?
¹⁰ He who ^[i](Z)disciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,
He who ^(AA)teaches mankind knowledge?
¹¹ The Lord ^(AB)knows human thoughts,
^[j]That they are mere breath.

¹² Blessed is the man whom ^(AC)You discipline, ^[k]Lord,
And ^(AD)whom You teach from Your Law,
¹³ So that You may grant him ^(AE)relief from the ^(AF)days of adversity,
Until ^(AG)a pit is dug for the wicked.
¹⁴ For ^(AH)the Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He ^(AI)abandon His inheritance.
¹⁵ For ^[l](AJ)judgment ^[m]will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart ^[n]will follow it.
¹⁶ Who will ^(AK)stand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me ^(AL)against those who do injustice?

¹⁷ If ^(AM)the Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.
¹⁸ If I should say, “^(AN)My foot has slipped,”
Your faithfulness, Lord, will support me.
¹⁹ When my anxious thoughts ^[o]multiply within me,
Your ^(AO)comfort delights my soul.
²⁰ Can a ^[p](AP)throne of destruction be allied with You,
One ^(AQ)which devises ^[q]mischief by decree?
²¹ They ^(AR)band themselves together against the ^[r]life of the righteous
And ^(AS)condemn ^[s]the innocent to death.
²² But the Lord has been my ^(AT)refuge,
And my God the ^(AU)rock of my refuge.
²³ He has ^(AV)brought back their injustice upon them,
And He will ^[t](AW)destroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will ^[u]destroy them.

⁶ Come, let’s ^(BG)worship and bow down,
Let’s ^(BH)kneel before the Lord our ^(BI)Maker.
⁷ For He is our God,
And ^(BJ)we are the people of His ^[w](BK)pasture and the sheep of His hand.
^(BL)Today, ^[x]if you will hear His voice,
⁸ Do not harden your hearts as at ^[y](BM)Meribah,
As on the day of ^[z](BN)Massah in the wilderness,
⁹ “When your fathers ^(BO)put Me to the test,
They tested Me, though they had seen My work.
¹⁰ For ^(BP)forty years I was disgusted with that generation,
And said they are a people who err in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.
¹¹ Therefore I ^(BQ)swore in My anger,
They certainly shall not enter My ^(BR)rest.”

^7 [ab]Ascribe to the Lord, you ^(CD)families of the peoples,
^[ac](CE)Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
^8 [ad]Ascribe to the Lord the ^(CF)glory of His name;
Bring an ^[ae](CG)offering and come into His courtyards.
^9 (CH)Worship the Lord in ^[af]holy attire;
^(CI)Tremble before Him, all the earth.
¹⁰ Say among the nations, “^(CJ)The Lord reigns;
Indeed, the ^(CK)world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
He will ^(CL)judge the peoples fairly.”

¹¹ May the ^(CM)heavens be joyful, and may the ^(CN)earth rejoice;
May ^(CO)the sea ^[ag]roar, and ^[ah]all it contains;
¹² May the ^(CP)field be jubilant, and all that is in it.
Then all the ^(CQ)trees of the forest will sing for joy
¹³ Before the Lord, ^(CR)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
^(CS)He will judge the world in righteousness,
And the peoples in His faithfulness.

⁷ May all those be ashamed who serve ^(DG)carved images,
Who boast in ^(DH)idols;
^[ak](DI)Worship Him, all you ^[al]gods.
⁸ Zion ^[am]heard this and ^(DJ)was joyful,
And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced
Because of Your judgments, Lord.
⁹ For You are the Lord ^(DK)Most High over all the earth;
You are exalted far ^(DL)above all ^[an]gods.

^10 (DM)Hate evil, you who love the Lord,
Who ^(DN)watches over the souls of His godly ones;
He ^(DO)saves them from the hand of the wicked.
^11 (DP)Light is sown like seed for the righteous,
And ^(DQ)gladness for the upright in heart.
¹² Be ^(DR)joyful in the Lord, you righteous ones,
And ^(DS)praise ^[ao]the mention of His holy name.

^4 (EB)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
^(EC)Be cheerful and sing for joy and sing praises.
⁵ Sing praises to the Lord with the ^(ED)lyre,
With the lyre and the ^[aq](EE)sound of melody.
⁶ With ^(EF)trumpets and the sound of the horn
^(EG)Shout joyfully before ^(EH)the King, the Lord.

⁷ May the ^(EI)sea roar and ^[ar]all it contains,
The ^(EJ)world and those who dwell in it.
⁸ May the ^(EK)rivers clap their hands,
May the ^(EL)mountains sing together for joy
⁹ Before the Lord, for He is coming to ^(EM)judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And ^(EN)the peoples with fairness.

^6 (FA)Moses and Aaron were among His ^(FB)priests,
And ^(FC)Samuel was among those who ^(FD)called on His name;
They ^(FE)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
⁷ He ^(FF)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They ^(FG)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
⁸ Lord our God, You ^(FH)answered them;
You were a ^(FI)forgiving God to them,
And yet an ^(FJ)avenger of their evil deeds.
⁹ Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.

⁴ Enter His gates ^(FQ)with ^[be]thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.
Give thanks to Him, ^(FR)bless His name.
⁵ For ^(FS)the Lord is good;
^(FT)His mercy is everlasting
And His ^(FU)faithfulness is to all generations.

⁶ My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
One who walks in a ^[bk](GD)blameless way is one who will serve me.
⁷ One who ^(GE)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
One who speaks lies ^(GF)shall not ^[bl]maintain his position before me.
^8 (GG)Every morning I will ^[bm](GH)destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to ^(GI)eliminate from the ^(GJ)city of the Lord all those who do injustice.

⁸ My enemies ^(GX)have taunted me all day long;
Those who ^[br](GY)deride me ^[bs]have used my name as a ^(GZ)curse.
⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And ^(HA)mixed my drink with weeping
^10 (HB)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have ^(HC)lifted me up and thrown me away.
¹¹ My days are like a ^[bt](HD)lengthened shadow,
And ^[bu]I ^(HE)wither away like ^[bv]grass.

¹² But You, Lord, ^[bw](HF)remain forever,
And Your ^[bx](HG)name remains to all generations.
¹³ You will ^(HH)arise and have ^(HI)compassion on Zion;
For ^(HJ)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the ^(HK)appointed time has come.
¹⁴ Surely Your servants ^[by]take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
^15 [bz]So the ^[ca](HL)nations will fear the name of the Lord,
And ^(HM)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
¹⁶ For the Lord has ^(HN)built up Zion;
He has ^(HO)appeared in His glory.
¹⁷ He has ^(HP)turned His attention to the prayer of the ^[cb]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

^18 [cc]This will be ^(HQ)written for the ^(HR)generation to come,
^[cd]That ^(HS)a people yet to be created ^[ce]may praise ^[cf]the Lord:
¹⁹ For He ^(HT)looked down from His holy height;
^(HU)From heaven the Lord looked ^[cg]upon the earth,
²⁰ To hear the ^(HV)groaning of the prisoner,
To ^(HW)set free ^[ch]those who were doomed to death,
²¹ So that people may ^(HX)tell of the name of the Lord in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
²² When ^(HY)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

²³ He has broken my strength in the way;
He has ^(HZ)shortened my days.
²⁴ I say, “My God, ^(IA)do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your ^(IB)years are ^[ci]throughout all generations.
²⁵ In time of old You ^(IC)founded the earth,
And the ^(ID)heavens are the work of Your hands.
^26 [cj]Even they will ^(IE)perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.
²⁷ But You are ^[ck](IF)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
²⁸ The ^(IG)children of Your servants will continue,
And their ^[cl](IH)descendants will be established before You.”

⁶ The Lord ^(IR)performs ^[cn]righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are ^(IS)oppressed.
⁷ He ^(IT)made known His ways to Moses,
His ^(IU)deeds to the sons of Israel.
⁸ The Lord is ^(IV)compassionate and gracious,
^(IW)Slow to anger and abounding in mercy.
⁹ He ^(IX)will not always contend with us,
Nor will He ^(IY)keep His anger forever.
¹⁰ He has ^(IZ)not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our guilty deeds.
¹¹ For as high ^(JA)as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who ^[co]fear Him.
¹² As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He ^(JB)removed our wrongdoings from us.
¹³ Just ^(JC)as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who ^[cp]fear Him.
¹⁴ For ^(JD)He Himself knows ^[cq]our form;
He ^(JE)is mindful that we are nothing but ^(JF)dust.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are ^(JG)like grass;
Like a ^(JH)flower of the field, so he flourishes.
¹⁶ When the ^(JI)wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its ^(JJ)place no longer knows about it.
¹⁷ But the ^[cr](JK)mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting for those who ^[cs]fear Him,
And His justice ^(JL)to the children’s children,
¹⁸ To ^(JM)those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts, so as to do them.

¹⁹ The Lord has established His ^(JN)throne in the heavens,
And His ^[ct](JO)sovereignty rules over ^[cu]all.
²⁰ Bless the Lord, you ^(JP)His angels,
^(JQ)Mighty in strength, who ^(JR)perform His word,
^(JS)Obeying the voice of His word!
²¹ Bless the Lord, all you ^(JT)His ^[cv]angels,
You ^(JU)who serve Him, doing His will.
²² Bless the Lord, ^(JV)all you works of His,
In all places of His dominion;
Bless the Lord, my soul!

⁵ He ^(KF)established the earth upon its foundations,
So that it will not ^[dc]totter forever and ever.
⁶ You ^(KG)covered it with the deep sea as with a garment;
The waters were standing above the mountains.
⁷ They fled from Your ^(KH)rebuke,
At the ^(KI)sound of Your thunder they hurried away.
⁸ The mountains rose; the valleys sank down
To the ^(KJ)place which You established for them.
⁹ You set a ^(KK)boundary so that they will not pass over,
So that they will not return to cover the earth.

^10 [dd]He sends forth ^(KL)springs in the valleys;
They flow between the mountains;
¹¹ They ^(KM)give drink to every animal of the field;
The ^(KN)wild donkeys quench their thirst.
¹² The birds of the sky ^(KO)dwell ^[de]beside them;
They ^[df]lift up their voices from among the branches.
^13 [dg]He ^(KP)waters the mountains from His upper chambers;
^(KQ)The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

^14 [dh]He causes the ^(KR)grass to grow for the ^[di]cattle,
And ^(KS)vegetation for the labor of mankind,
So that ^[dj]they may produce ^[dk]food ^(KT)from the earth,
¹⁵ And ^(KU)wine, which makes a human heart cheerful,
^(KV)So that he makes his face gleam with oil,
And ^[dl]food, which ^(KW)sustains a human heart.
¹⁶ The trees of the Lord ^[dm]drink their fill,
The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
¹⁷ Where the ^(KX)birds build their nests,
And the ^(KY)stork, whose home is the juniper trees.

¹⁸ The high mountains are for the ^(KZ)wild goats;
The ^(LA)cliffs are a refuge for the ^(LB)rock hyrax.
¹⁹ He made the moon ^(LC)for the seasons;
The ^(LD)sun knows the place of its setting.
²⁰ You ^(LE)appoint darkness and it becomes night,
In which all the ^(LF)animals of the forest ^[dn]prowl about.
²¹ The ^(LG)young lions roar for their prey
^[do]And ^(LH)seek their food from God.
²² When the sun rises they withdraw,
And they lie down in their ^(LI)dens.
²³ A person goes out to ^(LJ)his work
And to his labor until evening.

²⁴ Lord, how ^(LK)many are Your works!
^[dp]In ^(LL)wisdom You have made them all;
The ^(LM)earth is full of Your ^[dq]possessions.
^25 [dr]There is the ^(LN)sea, great and ^[ds]broad,
In which are swarms without number,
Animals both small and great.
²⁶ The ^(LO)ships move along there,
And ^[dt](LP)Leviathan, which You have formed to have fun in it.

²⁷ They all ^(LQ)wait for You
To ^(LR)give them their food in ^[du]due season.
²⁸ You give to them, they gather it up;
You ^(LS)open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.
²⁹ You ^(LT)hide Your face, they are terrified;
You ^(LU)take away their breath, they perish
And ^(LV)return to their dust.
³⁰ You send forth Your ^[dv](LW)Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the ground.

³¹ May the ^(LX)glory of the Lord endure forever;
May the Lord ^(LY)rejoice in His works;
^32 [dw]He ^(LZ)looks at the earth, and it ^(MA)trembles;
He ^(MB)touches the mountains, and they smoke.
^33 [dx]I will sing to the Lord ^[dy](MC)as long as I live;
^[dz]I will ^(MD)sing praise to my God ^[ea]while I have my being.
³⁴ May my ^(ME)praise be pleasing to Him;
As for me, I shall ^(MF)rejoice in the Lord.
³⁵ May sinners be ^(MG)removed from the earth
And may the ^(MH)wicked be no more.

⁸ He has ^(MY)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded to a ^(MZ)thousand generations,
⁹ The ^(NA)covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His ^(NB)oath to Isaac.
¹⁰ Then He ^(NC)confirmed it to Jacob as a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
¹¹ Saying, “^(ND)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the ^[ei](NE)portion of your inheritance,”
¹² When they were only a ^(NF)few people in number,
Very few, and ^(NG)strangers in it.
¹³ And they wandered from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people,
¹⁴ He ^(NH)allowed no one to oppress them,
And He ^[ej](NI)rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,
¹⁵ “^(NJ)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do not harm My prophets.”

¹⁶ And He ^(NK)called for a famine upon the land;
He ^(NL)broke the whole staff of bread.
¹⁷ He ^(NM)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was ^(NN)sold as a slave.
¹⁸ They forced his ^(NO)feet into shackles,
^[ek]He was put in irons;
¹⁹ Until the time that his ^(NP)word came to pass,
The word of the Lord ^(NQ)refined him.
²⁰ The ^(NR)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples, and set him free.
²¹ He ^(NS)made him lord of his house,
And ruler over all his possessions,
²² To ^[el]imprison his high officials ^[em](NT)at will,
That he might teach his elders wisdom.
^23 (NU)Israel also came into Egypt;
So Jacob ^(NV)lived in the land of Ham.
²⁴ And He ^(NW)made His people very fruitful,
And made them stronger than their enemies.

²⁵ He ^(NX)turned their heart to hate His people,
To ^(NY)deal cunningly with His servants.
²⁶ He ^(NZ)sent His servant Moses,
And ^(OA)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
²⁷ They ^[en](OB)performed His wondrous acts among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
²⁸ He ^(OC)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not ^(OD)rebel against His words.
²⁹ He ^(OE)turned their waters into blood,
And caused their fish to die.
³⁰ Their land swarmed with ^(OF)frogs
Even in the ^(OG)chambers of their kings.
³¹ He spoke, and a ^(OH)swarm of flies
And ^(OI)gnats invaded all their territory.
³² He ^[eo]gave them ^(OJ)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
³³ He also ^(OK)struck their vines and their fig trees,
And smashed the trees of their territory.
³⁴ He spoke, and ^(OL)locusts came,
And creeping locusts, beyond number,
³⁵ And they ate all the vegetation in their land,
And ate the fruit of their ground.
³⁶ He also ^(OM)fatally struck all the firstborn in their land,
The ^(ON)first fruits of all their vigor.

³⁷ Then He brought ^[ep]the Israelites out with ^(OO)silver and gold,
And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.
³⁸ Egypt was ^(OP)glad when they departed,
For the ^(OQ)dread of them had fallen upon ^[eq]the Egyptians.
³⁹ He spread out a ^(OR)cloud as a ^[er]covering,
And ^(OS)fire to illumine by night.
^40 [es]They ^(OT)asked, and He brought ^(OU)quail,
And satisfied them with the ^[et](OV)bread of heaven.
⁴¹ He opened the ^[eu]rock and ^(OW)water flowed out;
^[ev]It ran in the dry places like a river.
⁴² For He ^(OX)remembered His holy word
With His servant Abraham;
⁴³ And He led out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with a joyful ^(OY)shout.
⁴⁴ He also ^(OZ)gave them the lands of the ^[ew]nations,
So that they ^(PA)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
⁴⁵ And that they might ^(PB)keep His statutes
And comply with His laws;
^[ex]Praise ^[ey]the Lord!

⁴ Remember me, Lord, in Your ^(PH)favor ^[fd]toward Your people.
Visit me with Your salvation,
⁵ So that I may see the ^(PI)prosperity of Your chosen ones,
That I may ^(PJ)rejoice in the joy of Your nation,
That I may ^(PK)boast with Your ^[fe]inheritance.

^6 (PL)We have sinned ^[ff](PM)like our fathers,
We have gone astray, we have behaved wickedly.
⁷ Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your ^[fg]wonders;
They ^(PN)did not remember ^[fh]Your abundant kindnesses,
But ^(PO)rebelled by the sea, at the ^[fi]Red Sea.
⁸ Nevertheless He saved them ^(PP)for the sake of His name,
So that He might ^(PQ)make His power known.
⁹ So He ^(PR)rebuked the ^[fj]Red Sea and it ^(PS)dried up,
And He ^(PT)led them through the mighty waters, as through the wilderness.
¹⁰ So He ^(PU)saved them from the ^[fk]hand of one who hated them,
And ^(PV)redeemed them from the ^[fl]hand of the enemy.
^11 (PW)The waters covered their adversaries;
Not one of them was left.
¹² Then they ^(PX)believed His words;
They ^(PY)sang His praise.

¹³ They quickly ^(PZ)forgot His works;
They ^(QA)did not wait for His plan,
¹⁴ But ^(QB)became lustfully greedy in the wilderness,
And ^(QC)put God to the test in the desert.
¹⁵ So He ^(QD)gave them their request,
But ^(QE)sent a ^[fm]wasting disease among them.

¹⁶ When they became ^(QF)envious of Moses in the camp,
And of Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,
¹⁷ The ^(QG)earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And engulfed the ^[fn]company of Abiram.
¹⁸ And a ^(QH)fire blazed up in their ^[fo]company;
The flame consumed the wicked.

¹⁹ They ^(QI)made a calf in Horeb,
And worshiped a cast metal image.
²⁰ So they ^(QJ)exchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
²¹ They ^(QK)forgot God their Savior,
Who had done ^(QL)great things in Egypt,
^22 [fp](QM)Wonders in the land of Ham,
And awesome things by the ^[fq]Red Sea.
²³ Therefore ^(QN)He said that He would destroy them,
If ^(QO)Moses, His chosen one, had not stood in the gap before Him,
To turn away His wrath from destroying them.
²⁴ Then they ^(QP)rejected the ^(QQ)pleasant land;
They ^(QR)did not believe His word,
²⁵ But ^(QS)grumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.
²⁶ Therefore He ^[fr](QT)swore to them
That He would have them fall in the wilderness,
²⁷ And that He would ^(QU)bring down their ^[fs]descendants among the nations,
And ^(QV)scatter them in the lands.

²⁸ They also ^(QW)followed ^[ft]Baal-peor,
And ate ^(QX)sacrifices offered to the dead.
²⁹ So they ^(QY)provoked Him to anger with their deeds,
And a plague broke out among them.
³⁰ Then Phinehas ^(QZ)stood up and ^[fu]intervened,
And so the ^(RA)plague was brought to a halt.
³¹ And it was ^(RB)credited to him as righteousness,
To all generations forever.

³² They also ^(RC)provoked Him to wrath at the waters of ^[fv]Meribah,
So that it ^(RD)went badly for Moses on their account.
³³ Because they ^(RE)were rebellious against ^[fw]His Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.

³⁴ They ^(RF)did not destroy the peoples,
As ^(RG)the Lord had commanded them,
³⁵ But ^(RH)they got involved with the nations
And learned their ^[fx]practices,
³⁶ And ^(RI)served their idols,
^(RJ)Which became a snare to them.
³⁷ They even ^(RK)sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the ^(RL)demons,
³⁸ And shed ^(RM)innocent blood,
The blood of their ^(RN)sons and their daughters
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was ^(RO)defiled with the blood.
³⁹ So they became ^(RP)unclean in their ^[fy]practices,
And ^[fz](RQ)were unfaithful in their deeds.

⁴⁰ Therefore the ^(RR)anger of the Lord was kindled against His people,
And He ^(RS)loathed His ^[ga](RT)inheritance.
⁴¹ So ^(RU)He handed them over to the ^[gb]nations,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
⁴² Their enemies also ^(RV)oppressed them,
And they were subdued under their ^[gc]power.
⁴³ Many times He would ^(RW)rescue them;
They, however, were rebellious in their ^(RX)plan,
And they ^(RY)sank down into their guilt.

⁴⁴ Nevertheless He looked at their distress
When He ^(RZ)heard their cry;
⁴⁵ And He ^(SA)remembered His covenant for their sake,
And ^[gd](SB)relented ^(SC)according to the greatness of His mercy.
⁴⁶ He also made them ^(SD)objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.

^47 (SE)Save us, Lord our God,
And ^(SF)gather us from the nations,
To give thanks to Your holy name
And ^(SG)glory in Your praise.
^48 (SH)Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
From everlasting to everlasting.
And all the people shall say, “Amen.”
^[ge]Praise ^[gf]the Lord!

⁴ They ^(SN)wandered in the wilderness in a ^[gh]desert region;
They did not find a way to ^[gi]an inhabited ^(SO)city.
⁵ They were hungry ^[gj]and thirsty;
Their ^(SP)souls felt weak within them.
⁶ Then they ^(SQ)cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
⁷ He also had them walk on a ^[gk](SR)straight way,

^8 (ST)They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His ^[gm]wonders to the sons of mankind!
⁹ For He has ^(SU)satisfied the ^[gn]thirsty soul,
And He has filled the ^(SV)hungry soul with what is good.

¹⁰ There were those who ^(SW)lived in darkness and in ^[go]the shadow of death,
^(SX)Prisoners in misery and ^[gp]chains,
¹¹ Because they had ^(SY)rebelled against the words of God
And ^(SZ)rejected the ^(TA)plan of the Most High.
¹² Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was ^(TB)no one to help.
¹³ Then they ^(TC)cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
¹⁴ He ^(TD)brought them out of darkness and ^[gq]the shadow of death
And ^(TE)broke their bands apart.
^15 (TF)They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His ^[gr]wonders to the sons of mankind!
¹⁶ For He has ^(TG)shattered gates of bronze
And cut off bars of iron.

¹⁷ Fools, because of ^[gs]their rebellious way,
And ^(TH)because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.
¹⁸ Their ^(TI)souls loathed all kinds of food,
And they ^(TJ)came close to the ^(TK)gates of death.
¹⁹ Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
²⁰ He ^(TL)sent His word and ^(TM)healed them,
And ^(TN)saved them from their ^[gt]destruction.
^21 (TO)They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His ^[gu]wonders to the sons of mankind!
²² They shall also offer ^(TP)sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And ^(TQ)tell of His works with joyful singing.

²³ Those who ^(TR)go down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great waters;
²⁴ They have seen the works of the Lord,
And His ^[gv]wonders in the deep.
²⁵ For He ^(TS)spoke and raised a ^(TT)stormy wind,
Which ^(TU)lifted the waves ^[gw]of the sea.
²⁶ They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths;
Their soul ^(TV)melted away in their misery.
²⁷ They reeled and ^(TW)staggered like a drunken person,
And ^[gx]were at their wits’ end.
²⁸ Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.
²⁹ He ^(TX)caused the storm to be still,
So that the waves ^[gy]of the sea were hushed.
³⁰ Then they were glad because they were quiet,
So He guided them to their desired harbor.
^31 (TY)They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy,
And for His ^[gz](TZ)wonders to the sons of mankind!
³² They shall also ^(UA)exalt Him ^(UB)in the congregation of the people,
And ^(UC)praise Him at the seat of the elders.

³³ He ^(UD)turns rivers into a ^[ha]wilderness,
And springs of water into a thirsty ground;
³⁴ And a ^(UE)fruitful land into a ^(UF)salt waste,
Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
³⁵ He ^(UG)turns a ^[hb]wilderness into a pool of water,
And a dry land into springs of water;
³⁶ And He has the hungry live there,
So that they may establish ^[hc](UH)an inhabited city,
³⁷ And sow fields and ^(UI)plant vineyards,
And ^[hd]gather a fruitful harvest.
³⁸ He also blesses them and they ^(UJ)multiply greatly,
And He ^(UK)does not let their cattle decrease.

³⁹ When they ^(UL)become few and ^(UM)lowly
Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,
⁴⁰ He ^(UN)pours contempt upon noblemen
And ^(UO)makes them wander ^(UP)in a pathless wasteland.
⁴¹ But He ^(UQ)sets the needy ^[he]securely on high, away from affliction,
And ^(UR)makes his families like a flock.
⁴² The ^(US)upright see it and are glad;
But all ^(UT)injustice shuts its mouth.
⁴³ Who is ^(UU)wise? He is to pay attention to these things,
And consider the ^(UV)mercy of the Lord.

⁷ God has spoken in His ^[hg]holiness:
“I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem,
And measure out the Valley of Succoth.
⁸ Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the ^[hh]helmet of My head;
^(VB)Judah is My ^[hi]scepter.
⁹ Moab is My washbowl;
I will throw My sandal over Edom;
I will shout aloud over Philistia.”

^10 (VC)Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who ^[hj]will lead me to Edom?
¹¹ God, have You Yourself not ^(VD)rejected us?
And will You not go forth with our armies, God?
¹² Give us help against the enemy,
For ^(VE)deliverance ^[hk]by man is worthless.
^13 [hl]Through God we will do valiantly,
And ^(VF)it is He who will trample down our enemies.

⁶ Appoint a wicked person over him,
And may an ^[hp](VP)accuser stand at his right hand.
⁷ When he is judged, may he ^(VQ)come out guilty,
And may his ^(VR)prayer become sin.
⁸ May ^(VS)his days be few;
May ^(VT)another take his office.
⁹ May his ^(VU)children be fatherless,
And his ^(VV)wife a widow.
¹⁰ May his ^(VW)children wander about and beg;
And may they ^(VX)seek sustenance ^[hq]far from their ruined homes.
¹¹ May ^(VY)the creditor ^[hr]seize everything that he has,
And may ^(VZ)strangers plunder the product of his labor.
¹² May there be none to ^[hs](WA)extend kindness to him,
Nor ^(WB)any to be gracious to his fatherless children.
¹³ May his ^(WC)descendants be ^[ht]eliminated;
May their ^(WD)name be wiped out in a following generation.

¹⁴ May ^(WE)the guilt of his fathers be remembered ^[hu]before the Lord,
And do not let the sin of his mother be ^(WF)wiped out.
¹⁵ May ^(WG)they be before the Lord continually,
So that He may ^(WH)eliminate their memory from the earth;
¹⁶ Because he did not remember to show mercy,
But persecuted the ^(WI)afflicted and needy person,
And the ^(WJ)despondent in heart, to ^(WK)put them to death.
¹⁷ He also loved cursing, so ^(WL)it came to him;
And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.
¹⁸ But he ^(WM)clothed himself with cursing as with his garment,
And it ^(WN)entered ^[hv]his body like water,
And like oil into his bones.
¹⁹ May it be to him as ^(WO)a garment with which he covers himself,
And as a belt which he constantly ^(WP)wears around himself.
²⁰ May this be the ^(WQ)reward of my accusers from the Lord,
And of those who ^(WR)speak evil against my soul.

²¹ But You, ^[hw]God, the Lord, deal kindly with me ^(WS)for the sake of Your name;
Because ^(WT)Your mercy is good, rescue me;
²² For ^(WU)I am afflicted and needy,
And ^[hx]my heart is ^(WV)wounded within me.
²³ I am passing ^(WW)like a shadow when it lengthens;
I am shaken off ^(WX)like the locust.
²⁴ My ^(WY)knees ^[hy]are weak from ^(WZ)fasting,
And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.
²⁵ I also have become a ^(XA)disgrace to them;
When they see me, they ^(XB)shake their head.

^26 (XC)Help me, Lord my God;
Save me according to Your mercy.
^27 [hz]And may they ^(XD)know that this is Your hand;
You, Lord, have done it.
^28 (XE)They will curse, but You bless;
When they arise, they will be ashamed,
But Your ^(XF)servant will be glad.
^29 [ia]May ^(XG)my accusers be clothed with dishonor,
And ^[ib]may they ^(XH)cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

³⁰ With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord;
And ^(XI)I will praise Him in the midst of many.
³¹ For He stands ^(XJ)at the right hand of the needy,
To save him from those who ^(XK)judge his soul.

^4 (XT)The Lord has sworn and will ^(XU)not ^[ig]change His mind,
“You are a ^(XV)priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
⁵ The Lord is ^(XW)at Your right hand;
He ^[ih]will ^(XX)shatter kings in the ^(XY)day of His wrath.
⁶ He will ^(XZ)judge among the nations,
He ^[ii]will fill them with ^(YA)corpses,
He ^[ij]will ^(YB)shatter the ^[ik]chief men over a broad country.
⁷ He will ^(YC)drink from the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He will ^(YD)lift up His head.

⁷ The works of His hands are ^[it](YN)truth and justice;
All His precepts ^(YO)are trustworthy.
⁸ They are ^(YP)upheld forever and ever;
They are performed in ^[iu](YQ)truth and uprightness.
⁹ He has sent ^(YR)redemption to His people;
He has ^[iv]ordained His covenant forever;
^(YS)Holy and ^[iw]awesome is His name.
¹⁰ The ^[ix](YT)fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
All those who ^[iy]follow ^(YU)His commandments have a good understanding;
His ^(YV)praise endures forever.

⁷ He will not fear ^(ZG)bad news;
His ^(ZH)heart is steadfast, ^(ZI)trusting in the Lord.
⁸ His ^(ZJ)heart is firm, he ^(ZK)will not fear,
^[jg]But will ^(ZL)look with satisfaction on his enemies.
^9 [jh]He ^(ZM)has given freely to the poor,
His righteousness endures forever;
His ^(ZN)horn will be exalted in honor.

¹⁰ The ^(ZO)wicked will see it and be ^[ji]vexed,
He will ^(ZP)gnash his teeth and ^(ZQ)melt away;
The ^(ZR)desire of the wicked will perish.

^5 (ZZ)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who ^(AAA)is enthroned on high,
⁶ Who ^(AAB)looks far down to
The heavens and the earth?
⁷ He ^(AAC)raises the poor from the dust,
He lifts the needy from the garbage heap,
⁸ To ^(AAD)seat them with noblemen,
With the noblemen of His people.
⁹ He ^(AAE)has the infertile woman live in the house
As a joyful mother of children.
^[jm]Praise ^[jn]the Lord!

³ The ^(AAJ)sea looked and fled;
The ^(AAK)Jordan turned back.
⁴ The mountains ^(AAL)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.
⁵ What ^(AAM)ails you, sea, that you flee?
Jordan, that you turn back?
⁶ Mountains, that you skip like rams?
Hills, like lambs?

^7 (AAN)Tremble, earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,
⁸ Who ^(AAO)turned the rock into a ^(AAP)pool of water,
The ^(AAQ)flint into a fountain of water.

^9 (ABB)Israel, ^(ABC)trust in the Lord;
He is their ^(ABD)help and their shield.
¹⁰ House of ^(ABE)Aaron, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
¹¹ You who ^[js](ABF)fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
¹² The Lord ^(ABG)has been mindful of us; He will bless us.
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
¹³ He will ^(ABH)bless those who ^[jt]fear the Lord,
^(ABI)The small together with the great.
¹⁴ May the Lord ^(ABJ)increase you,
You and your children.
¹⁵ May you be blessed of the Lord,
^(ABK)Maker of heaven and earth.

¹⁶ The heavens are ^(ABL)the heavens of the Lord,
But ^(ABM)the earth He has given to the sons of mankind.
¹⁷ The ^(ABN)dead do not praise ^[ju]the Lord,
Nor do any who go down into ^(ABO)silence;
¹⁸ But as for us, we will ^(ABP)bless ^[jv]the Lord
From this time and forever.

^5 (ABW)Gracious is the Lord, and ^(ABX)righteous;
Yes, our God is ^(ABY)compassionate.
⁶ The Lord watches over ^(ABZ)the simple;
I was ^(ACA)brought low, and He saved me.
⁷ Return to your ^(ACB)rest, my soul,
For the Lord has ^(ACC)dealt generously with you.
⁸ For You have ^(ACD)rescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from stumbling.
⁹ I shall walk before the Lord
In the ^[kc](ACE)land of the living.
¹⁰ I ^(ACF)believed when I said,
“I am ^(ACG)greatly afflicted.”
¹¹ I ^(ACH)said in my alarm,
“^(ACI)All people are liars.”

¹² What shall I ^(ACJ)repay to the Lord
For all His ^(ACK)benefits ^[kd]to me?
¹³ I will lift up the ^(ACL)cup of salvation,
And ^(ACM)call upon the name of the Lord.
¹⁴ I will ^(ACN)pay my vows to the Lord;
May it be ^(ACO)in the presence of all His people!
^15 (ACP)Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His godly ones.
¹⁶ O Lord, ^[ke]I surely am ^(ACQ)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the ^(ACR)son of Your female slave,
You have ^(ACS)unfastened my restraints.
¹⁷ I will offer You ^(ACT)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And ^(ACU)call upon the name of the Lord.
¹⁸ I will ^(ACV)pay my vows to the Lord,
May it be in the presence of all His people,
¹⁹ In the ^(ACW)courtyards of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, ^(ACX)Jerusalem!

Than to trust in people.

In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.
¹² They surrounded me ^(ADS)like bees;
They were extinguished like a ^(ADT)fire of thorn bushes;
In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.
¹³ You ^(ADU)pushed me violently so that I ^[ko]was falling,
But the Lord ^(ADV)helped me.

And He has become ^(ADX)my salvation.

¹⁵ The sound of ^(ADY)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The ^(ADZ)right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.
¹⁶ The ^(AEA)right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.
¹⁷ I ^(AEB)will not die, but live,
And ^(AEC)tell of the works of ^[kq]the Lord.
^18 [kr]The Lord has ^(AED)disciplined me severely,
But He has ^(AEE)not turned me over to death.

^19 (AEF)Open the gates of righteousness to me;
I will enter through them, I will give thanks to ^[ks]the Lord.
²⁰ This is the gate of the Lord;
The ^(AEG)righteous will enter through it.
²¹ I will give thanks to You, for You have ^(AEH)answered me,
And You have ^(AEI)become my salvation.

²² A ^(AEJ)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the ^[kt]chief cornerstone.
²³ This came about from the Lord;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
²⁴ This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let’s ^(AEK)rejoice and be glad in it.
²⁵ Please, O Lord, ^(AEL)do save us;
Please, O Lord, do send ^(AEM)prosperity!
^26 (AEN)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
We have ^(AEO)blessed you from the house of the Lord.
^27 (AEP)The Lord is God, and He has given us ^(AEQ)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice ^[ku]to the ^(AER)horns of the altar with cords.
^28 (AES)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, ^(AET)I exalt You.
^29 (AEU)Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His mercy is everlasting.
